Chapter 52: What do you do when you meet a sacrifice salesmen and he tries to make you an offer you can’t refuse?

“You had me at challenge. Crazy how?” Jack said.

The last few days had already been full of excitement, and now it was just getting better and better. Besides the mana attacks. Those sucked.

“So… you saw the city on your way here, right?” Telepatian said.

Jack nodded at the little boy.

“S-So… I’ve never actually been there. Like really been there. I’ve been through the city in a wagon during celebrations a few times, but I’ve never actually gotten to be there myself, walking around. And alone. Always surrounded by guards,” Telepatian said.

“Prince wants me to Aladdin him. Okay. Esketit,” Jack said.

“Yayyyy!” Telepatian said, and threw his arms into the air and started doing a happy dance.

“So, how we gonna pull this off?” Jack said.

“Oh, that’s the easy part. I’ve been able to do this forever. I was just never brave enough. But now that I listened to your stories, I want to go on adventures too,” Telepatian said.

“Dope. But for real, how we gonna do this?” Jack said.

“If I really try, I can easily bypass all the anti-teleportation wards in this castle. But first, we need to grab something from my room. I have a present for you. You can keep it after going back to Earth. I think you’ll like this one,” Telepatian said.

Inside Telepatian’s room, there was a walk-in closet. And inside his walk-in closet, there was another walk-in closet filled with various magical tools.

Jack and Telepatian put on uniforms that changed size and shape and color into basically whatever the wearer wanted to look like.

Jack switched to a pimp suit. Then to a police uniform. Then to a swat team uniform. Then to only underwear. It worked perfectly.

“Bro, I love you,” Jack said.

“Hahaha, look at this!” Telepatian said, and changed into a bird outfit with wings.

“Oh shiii, can that actually fly?” Jack said.

“No, no. These are actually pretty weak. Won’t even handle a knife slash. A little damage and it breaks apart. But it’s super good at changing into whatever the wearer wants. Now, please imitate this. This is the normal outfit for what the locals wear,” Telepatian said. Jack nodded and followed suit.

“Okay, we are ready. Let’s hold hands,” Telepatian said.

“That’s some gay shit, sorry bro,” Jack said.

“I need it for the spell to work!” Telepatian said.

“Okay, but just do it fast,” Jack said.

One blink after, they were in the middle of the dryad city holding hands. They were in some kind of dark alleyway. Jack released his hand immediately.

“What is this place anyways?” Jack said.

“I’m not sure. I just honed the spell with basic divination to get me somewhere where no eyes were watching,” Telepatian said, and shrugged his shoulders.

In a dark alleyway back in Greentown, surely there would have been junkies. So Jack felt unsafe. But, there were none here. And the alleyway was even clean as well.

Culture shock.

They walked out of the alleyway, with Telepatian walking behind Jack nervously. Jack strode into a food market and went to a nearby food stall.

“What is this fruit anyways?” Jack said, while pointing at a weirdly shaped watermelon.

The food vendor was surprised to see a human for the first time, but exotic species were a usual sight so it didn’t shock him.

Jack couldn’t understand a word of what the vendor said.

“Jack, he doesn’t have an auto-translator skill,” Telepatian said.

“English, do you speak it motherfucker,” Jack said while laughing at his impression. The food vendor looked confused.

“You can’t say that word!” Telepatian said.

“Sorry, forgot to not cuss around kids,” Jack said.

Jack pranked a few more street vendors.

“What is this place anyways?” Jack said to another food vendor.

“Thank you for asking, esteemed visitor. I am a sacrifice salesman. Nice to meet you. May I ask where you are from, I’ve never seen your kind?”

Jack was taken aback by the fact that the vendor had an auto-translator skill.

“I am from Earth, nice to meet you, esteemed vendor. What is a sacrifice salesman?” Jack said.

Telepatian looked nervously at Jack and tried to hint to him that they should leave.

“Well… Let me explain with an example. What would you rather have, your thumb, or increased luck?” the vendor said.

“Ehm… can I regenerate my thumb?” Jack said.

The street vendor rolled his eyes. So did Telepatian as well.

“No, then the sacrifice would be worthless.”

“Ehm, then my thumb,” Jack said.

“That is a good choice. But why not pick increased luck? what if it meant that tomorrow when you were about to get hit by a wagon, you didn’t get hit. And you survived. What’s a thumb worth to a dead man?” the salesman said.

“You do make a good point,” Jack said, while pondering over that dilemma.

“I just did a basic spell scan on you. I know exactly what sacrifice you need to help you on your journey. Have you ever heard about…”
