Chapter 55: What if you could heal like a lizard?

Brian and Lucas were in their siege tower in the big wolf zone. On the horizon, they could see blue trees. The beginning of the next zone.

Another big wolf tried to ram their siege tower and Brian easily headshotted it. By now, his prediction skill plus marksmanship skill plus all the repetitions he had gotten in made him almost never miss.

“Yo, take out the binoculars and try to look in. See if this is close enough,” Brian said.

Lucas nodded.

“I can’t really see that much? I think it’s too far away. I’m not getting the achievement notification,” Lucas said.

“Okay, let’s move farther in,” Brian said.

And so they slowly started pushing the siege engine closer to the new zone. They were interrupted a lot of times by big wolves. Also, as a safety precaution, every time they shot at wolves, they had to reload to completion, which made things take longer.

“Okay, what do you see?” Brian said.

Lucas was staring at the new zone with his binoculars.

“I’m not sure. Just, blue trees? Pretty much, no monsters or anything like that. But let’s not get closer. I’m scared. I have a bad feeling about this,” Lucas said.

Achievement: 1 unfixed skill point

“Fuck yeah boy!” Lucas said.

“Gimme those binoculars,” Brian said and looked into the zone himself as well.

He got the same notification.

“Okay, should we get the fuck out of here? Can I press exit?” Lucas said.

“Yeah, but let’s bring this bad boy back. I don’t wanna have to rebuild a new siege engine every time we need to go out,” Brian said.

“Fuck me, that’s gonna take so long,” Lucas said.

“It sure will. We can think about what to use the skill points on until then,” Brian said.

Moving back to the Balloon Monster zone was tedious and boring. Even the wolves attacking had lost its excitement long ago. There was too much safety and monotony.

“I think I know what I”m gonna get. What are you gonna get?” Lucas said.

“I’m gonna save my point like I said before. For emergencies,” Brian said.

“I’m gonna get mind control skill,” Lucas said.

“Not something to help regrow your fingers?” Brian said.

“Oh shit, I didn’t even think about that,” Lucas said.

“If you get a mind control skill, it’ll probably be useless. Or need way too many skill points to actually work. At least if you get something to heal your fingers back, you can get something useful right now. Actually, I have an idea,” Brian said.

“What idea?” Lucas said.

“So, a while back I was watching a documentary about lizards. So, like these reptiles they regrow one hundred percent of their bodies after injuries. Except for head. And heart. Maybe they could regrow those parts, I’m not sure. Or maybe not. But they’d be dead. Anyways, they can regrow everything. And in the documentary they were talking about how instead of getting scar tissue like humans when something gets cut off, they get like baby cells sent to the place of injury and it slowly grows back over the period of a year or something. What if you ask the system to give you a skill which changes your natural healing to instead of giving scar tissue just does this baby pink shit,” Brian said.

“Mhm… that sounds boring. But I want my fingers back. Okay, what should I ask?” Lucas said.

“Say something like, hey I am Lucas I want this skill. This skill is what I want, blah biddy I’m not serious right now system please don’t use my skill point on this. I, Lucas not me this is a test, want a skill which changes my natural healing from scar tissue to the same system that lizards have,” Brian said.

“Okay, fuck it. System, I want to spend my skill point on getting the same healing DNA shit that lizards have. You know, where over a long period of time they regrow everything. Can I get that?” Lucas said.

“Fucking told you! Esketit!” Brian said.

“So, how long is it gonna take to heal? I don’t really feel anything,” Lucas said.

“You really have no patience, dumbass,” Brian said.

“Go fuck yourself.”

Brian aimed his rifle at an incoming wolf and headshotted it.

“So, what do you think it does? why did it say absolute? And biological?” Lucas said.

“Maybe it means like it heals everything. Like full DNA stuff? and maybe biological means there are different kinds of injuries. Like soul and mental injury, or something like that,” Brian said.

“Then should I have gotten healing for everything?” Lucas said.

“Maybe? but don’t be greedy,” Brian said.

When they finally exited the zone, Johnny was waiting for them.

“Ehm… Can I ask for a favor?” Johnny said.
