Fun fact: Stephen King based part of his concept for Rose Red on the Winchester Mansion (the constant building/hammering of the house) but in that case it was the spirits doing the construction and not the owner trying to outrun the restless departed.

She never wanted the hammering to stop…..there is a door that opens to a giant drop several small doors that open to brick walls -a lot of tiny rooms that can’t even fit a twin bed! It’s as strange and weird as you can image! It’s in San Jose!
