Chapter 727: Utter Nonsense
Added 2024-12-13 15:01:59 +0000 UTCAfter entering Blue Phoenix Mansion, Lin Qian and the others curiously looked around. The entire mansion was built from some kind of unknown wood. Judging from its texture, color, and the aura it emitted, it was almost certainly made from the Giant Wutong Tree.
The cultivation of the Giant Wutong Tree not only provided the materials for building homes but also served as the foundation for their dwellings.
“Mother, I’m curious. Why do so many members of the Sky Blue Phoenix Clan maintain a human-like form?” Ye Xin asked her mother, Lan Feng'er, with great curiosity after arriving at Blue Phoenix Mansion. This question had been on her mind for a long time.
Lan Feng'er chuckled softly and explained, “While it may not be the most advantageous form for combat, this human form is the fastest for cultivation. In this form, our cultivation speed is ten times faster than in our true phoenix forms. That’s why we usually maintain this human form.”
“In fact, many races, if their natural form is close to this one, find that their cultivation speeds are much faster. Races whose natural forms differ from the human shape will often transform into this form to cultivate.”
“This is one of the reasons the human race has become so dominant in the outer void. Their numbers are large, and they occupy vast territories.”
Hearing this, Ye Xin finally understood. Lin Qian, standing beside them, also contemplated this.
In his past life, there had been a saying that humans were the spirit of all living things. It seemed that there were similarities in this world as well.
After that, Lin Qian and the others followed Lan Feng'er deeper into Blue Phoenix Mansion, eventually arriving at the backyard.
The expansive leaf they stood on provided ample space, and Lan Feng'er arranged for Lin Qian and Ye Xin to stay in her courtyard.
In fact, Lan Feng'er's courtyard had plenty of rooms, more than enough to house her daughter and son-in-law.
“Are Grandfather and Great-Grandfather not here?” Lin Qian naturally referred to them as Ye Xin did and asked his mother-in-law.
Lan Feng'er shook her head gently. “They’re in the study discussing something. You can settle in first, and I’ll go check on them.”
With that, Lan Feng'er turned and left, heading toward the study.
Ye Nanxin stayed behind in Lan Feng'er's chambers, which would now be the room he and his wife would share. He began setting things up, like placing the refrigerator and Soul Lamps he had brought from the Huaxia Empire, as well as the Soul Vision device. Even if they wouldn’t use it, he felt something would be missing if he didn’t set it up.
Meanwhile, Lin Qian and Ye Xin also began arranging their room. The furniture already in place didn’t quite suit them, but it was easy to find anything they needed in Xuanhuan Star, so redecorating was simple.
At the same time, Lan Feng'er arrived at the study. As she approached the door, she heard her father’s angry voice from inside.
“The Cold Flame Phoenix Clan is really pushing us too far! Even if their strength has improved rapidly, do they really think they can push our clan aside?”
Bang!
Lan Feng'er immediately pushed open the door.
Inside the study were two people.
One of them bore a striking resemblance to Lan Feng'er, his face full of fury. He had long, sky-blue hair flowing down his back, and his pupils were also blue, with two blue feathers by his ears. He looked like the male version of Lan Feng'er.
This man was none other than Lan Feng'er's father, Lan Yi!
As for the other person sitting across from him, it was his father, Lan Feng'er's grandfather, Lan Ning!
Lan Ning also appeared youthful and handsome, showing no signs of age. The only difference between him and Lan Yi was that Lan Ning’s long blue hair had dulled slightly, and his face bore a few more lines of wisdom and experience.
Lan Feng'er’s sudden entrance didn’t surprise them at all. Given their cultivation levels, they had sensed her return long before she arrived.
“You’re back. Did you see your little lover?” Lan Ning’s previously stern expression softened into a smile as he teased his beloved granddaughter.
“Grandfather, what are you saying? He’s your grandson-in-law, not some little lover. That’s such a rude thing to say,” Lan Feng'er blushed, hurrying over to massage her grandfather’s shoulders.
Meanwhile, Lan Yi’s face still held traces of anger from their earlier discussion. However, when he saw his daughter, his gaze softened with affection. “Now that you’re here, make sure to remind him not to wander around too much. If he gets into trouble, I won’t help him.”
“Father, don’t worry. Ye Nan listens to me very well,” Lan Feng'er reassured him.
“But speaking of which, Feng'er, didn’t you say you were bringing your husband and daughter back? Why is there a human boy with you?” Lan Yi frowned and asked.
Lan Ning, too, looked at his granddaughter with curiosity. He was intrigued by the human boy.
“Oh, him? He’s my daughter’s husband and your son-in-law. Can’t we give him one of the spots for the Hai Xuan Sacred Academy?”
“Nonsense! The Sky Blue Phoenix Clan only has sixteen spots for the Hai Xuan Sacred Academy, and each one is incredibly precious. Giving one to my granddaughter is understandable, but giving another to a son-in-law? That’s outrageous! The clan wouldn’t accept it.”
“Besides, that son-in-law of yours came from some remote place, didn’t he? His talent is probably mediocre at best. Even if we gave him a spot, it would likely go to waste,” Lan Yi replied without hesitation after hearing his daughter’s request.
Lan Feng'er was just about to argue when Lan Ning suddenly laughed. “It’s fine, we’ll give him a spot. Tell them it’s my decision. After all, he’s the companion of my great-granddaughter, and we can’t treat him unfairly. As long as Feng'er is happy, that’s what matters. Besides, Feng'er has never caused us any trouble, so granting this request shouldn’t be an issue.”
Hearing her grandfather’s words, Lan Feng'er hugged Lan Ning happily. “Grandfather, you really are the best!”
“Father, you’re spoiling her too much,” Lan Yi said with a resigned shake of his head. Since his father had spoken, the matter was settled.
Seeing her father’s helpless expression, Lan Feng'er found it amusing. She was about to present the technique Lin Qian had given her when she paused and instead asked, “Father, what if I told you that I had a way to drastically increase the strength of our clan in a short time, perhaps even pushing us into the top three of the Phoenix bloodline? Wouldn’t that solve our problem with the Cold Flame Phoenix Clan?”
“Utter nonsense!” Lan Ning and Lan Yi exclaimed in unison, clearly skeptical.
