October Monthly Story Complete!
Added 2021-10-27 04:34:34 +0000 UTCHi all! Thanks so much for your patience with this month's story, but it actually ended up being my longest story yet (maybe ever?). At 21.6k words, "The Long Game" came out 30% longer than SYL3, which is something I was dead sure I wouldn't beat this month. But hey, when the spirit moves you.
One note: I interpreted the prompt as being about a plain ol' rubber girl and wrote 80% of the story before going back and seeing that the prompt implied some shapeshifting abilities. I decided, in the interests of time and keeping up continuity, to not go back to rewrite her as a shapeshifter and kept her as strictly stretchy, although she does do some "shape mimicking" in order to blend into her environment. I also expanded the scope of the story and fleshed out the character a lot more than I anticipated I would.
The result? Honestly, maybe my favorite story I've ever written. I'll definitely be ripping myself off a bit with this one when I continue TTT. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! It can be found in the Patreon Exclusive October 2021 story folder sent out earlier this month to $5+ patrons.

For future monthly polls, how about occasionally dedicating select months specifically to story ideas, noncanon if you prefer, of your (Chance's) OC's? That way when someone (possibly myself 😏) inevitably suggests one of your characters for an idea, they're not competing with other people's ideas. Or rather, patrons will have more space to pitch their own original ideas on the months people aren't suggesting your OC's. Just throwing that out there.
