Miscellaneous Myths: Dionysus!

Heyyy, about that throwaway line, "making Bacchae its own video"... I'd watch that. I'd literally pay money to watch that. In fact, I've just pledged to your Patreon now to put my money where my mouth is. So yeah, please consider this a request for more in-depth look at the Bacchae, because mad gods are almost as awesome as Greek tragedy. Thanks.

This video was so well-researched -- I keep showing it off to every classics student/grad in my department and they're IN LOVE!

ArianeLP

I've been showing this video to /everyone/ tbh

And now I have more nice mythology to draw on for character ideas for afore drawn PF character.

You're telling me. I *majored* in it and I had no idea -B

Overly Sarcastic Productions

I minored in Classical Studies and I didn't know most of that about the evolution of Dionysus' mythology.

This is one of my favorite videos from you guys!!

I love your content, and cannot wait for more. I would love a video focusing on the relationship between Hades and Persephone (even though you lightly touched on them, it would be nice to get a better idea of how these two were, especially since Hades has always gotten the crap end of the stick in most forms of media). I also hope for more Norse myths, since a lot of that is extremely fascinating.

Waltz No 2 is a nice touch.

I love your videos so much!!! I’m waiting on the edge of my seat for the next part of Journey to the West!!!

Huh... My theory senses are tingling... A Greek god with horns... associated with death and the underworld for reasons sometimes forgotten... who reportedly drives people to have sex, excess, and murder at possibly inappropriate times... getting ripped off by Rome (naturally)... And they eventually transitioned to a monotheistic culture with an opposed entity from an underworld sort of place with horns that drove people to have sex, excess, and murder at inappropriate times... So what, there wasn’t a commandment saying “Thou shalt not plagiarize”?

Ain't no party like a party god party, because a party god party usually ends with at least one person being torn to ribbons.

I love the way you drew him in his various forms! My favorite of all your little chino characters so far!

I loved how you really did your homework on this one! Didn't know how Dionysus had such a complex history :D

IronPhoenixBlade

Ahhh back to Greece.
