Trope Talk: Fallen Heroes!
Added 2017-08-31 15:06:00 +0000 UTCIt's the dark reflection of that last trope talk, Redeemed Villains! It's… surprisingly rather more boring than its good twin. But let's talk about it anyway!

This had me saying MISSY, especially about the dying "heroically" bit

2017-09-09 00:06:11 +0000 UTCnot me I love villians but then again when I watch westworld I wanna root for someone but they are all pretty nasty *sigh*
2017-09-02 22:27:24 +0000 UTCI stopped watching Death Note after (spoilers) he killed an innocent woman for trying to find her fiancé's killer (ep7 I think). I know I'm not supposed to agree with or approve of what Light's doing, but I honestly can't handle/follow a protagonist who's a sociopath.

Granted, the game goes a little too far in making the assassin's explicit bad guys after the switch, but as far as Shay's character arc goes, I agree that it's a great example -B

2017-08-31 16:27:17 +0000 UTCa great example, I think, of this trope is from Assassin's Creed: Rogue. In AC, the Assassins are typically viewed as the good guys fighting for freedom, and the Templars are the bad guys fighting for tyranny. However, in Rogue, the hero is an Assassin who realizes that his ideals are more inline with the Templars, who are portrayed as fighting for order and stability, while the Assassins are fighting for chaos and anarchy. Sometimes, simply showing the villain's point of view is a perfect way for the hero to switch sides.
