I wish I could remember the name of the wonderful (though apparently white) girl, in 5th grade, who chose Liliuokalani as her historic figure to profile. That girl was the first person to give me a clue about how badly the US treated Hawaii. She did not mince words, and called out the US for taking Hawaii by force, to benefit white financial interests.
