Trope Talk: Loners

Comments

If you're going to be a badass, you can't half-ass it.

Stephen Gillie

I believe that's Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.

Skemono

Probably not. He does have quite a few close friends and never really shunned away from deep interpersonal bonds. Geralt of Rivia on the other hand...

William Duan

Would Gandalf the Grey qualify as a loner for most of his time in Middle Earth?

David Hemsath

Note: in real-person psychology, like you noted, there are those who identify as loners because they have learned not to trust anyone, then pull away when it's pointed out that they are relying on someone. But it's not about their ego or identity, primarily, but rather that when that information settles in they are overcome with fear of betrayal or losing people they care about, and isolate to defend themselves against that threat. It's a fine difference, but one that can matter.

When Red was talking about Loners having kids tag along with them, I was thinking "How has she not talked about Lone Wolf and Cub yet?!?!?" . . and 60-90 seconds later, she brings it up. How did she read my mind!?!?!? Also, what story/series did the "girl with wolf cowl and staff" come from? I do not recognize it and did not hear its name in the video (if it was mentioned).

Dylan Northrup

"Because it makes people mad" XD As I was listening, I was thinking exactly the same thoughts and was a little mad at myself about it LOL. Pulling a Vegeta, indeed.
