2021-10-23 17:12:32 +0000 UTCI like Hawthorne's addition to the myth because it points out that it wouldn't be just Midas who suffered for his poor choice of wishes, but innocent people around him as well. Also I can see Hawthorne looking at the myth and going "Yeah not being able to eat and drink is bad, but there are WORSE things that fall into the *everything* category -- like your loved ones!" As a scientist, I could add that "everything" includes the air which Midas is breathing...enjoy suffocating trying to breath Au instead of O2, man.
