In the UK, an offensive weapon is defined under section 1A of the Prevention of Crime Act 1953 as 'any article made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it with him for such use by him'. As such a rolling pin would be an offensive weapon if Elly went over to the base with the intention of giving Marellis a proper good thumping but wouldn't if she was just going there to make pastry in his kitchen.
