Hi, so I really debated making a post about this. I'm really strict about keeping my personal life separate from my work. But my personal situation is impacting my work severely.
Long story (kinda) short, when the snow started to melt we had severe roof leaks in our kitchen and living room. Insurance got involved, we got a new roof installed, and tear down of the water damaged insides begun on March 16th. The ceiling had to be left open to dry out for a few days then the crew was supposed to come back and start rebuilding everything. Except that didn't happen because a state of emergency was declared (thanks covid-19). Our house was left in the state of the first two pictures for two weeks, while we still lived and worked there.
Finally this Wednesday the crew came back to finish tearing down the cabinets, rebuild the ceiling and re-insulate the attic. Saying that this week was difficult is a major understatement. We gradually lost usage of our kitchen until there was just a sink left, the crew found really bad mold and rot around the kitchen window, they accidentally smashed our cook top, and the cherry on top was our car getting stuck up to the bumper in mud in the destroyed driveway. We then had to get the car towed to the dealership for repairs because we ripped out the splash guard underneath it when we pulled it out of the mud. We also still don't know when we'll be getting new cabinets. The crew said it could be up to 8 weeks.
By this point the ceiling is back up, the insulation is done, and they even installed new pot lights in the kitchen which look really nice, but we won't have a kitchen for the foreseeable future.
So our amazing friends over at Nappin' Kraken (who are also amazing artists who could use some support in these difficult times! Check out their shop here; https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/NappinKraken ) have offered us a place to stay while our house is still under heavy construction so we'll be relocating there for a while. I'm going to bring stuff to work on, but I can't bring my entire studio with me obviously.
This means I'm going to be super limited when it comes to April's $5 reward. I'm down to two very large 30" plushies (Lugia and Dorugamon) as my choices, and I'm not sure they're gonna be viable options in my limited situation. Supplies are also very difficult to get right now because of covid-19. I may have to come up with a different project to make for the April reward. Either way, the April project will still be picked by poll, so you guys will have input on it no matter what ends up happening! :)
I'm sorry this ended up running so long, like I said earlier I don't like making personal posts but I feel like this was needed. I'd like to say I'm going to keep working at 110% capacity but really, I don't think this is a reasonable expectation right now. I'll do my best, there's a few different things I might try out, most of all I'll keep this patreon updated.
I hope everyone is staying safe and taking care of themselves in these strange times. I hope no one else is suffering through both a pandemic and construction hell ahah. I need to go pack, I'll update again on Monday with finished Nickit pictures <3
