Great reaction once again. I apologize in advance, there's so much to talk about. Some additions to last week: Glenda, notice, had a gun. She pulled this gun on Damrada, who commented in such a way that Glenda said, oh, you know what this is? I don’t know if I said this before, but Yuuki is a genius. As a result, he can be a bit inscrutable, and all his conversations are a bit cryptic. He’s always a few steps ahead. The ones who came from the Church and are heading towards Tempest first took a Gate, a piece of technology that can teleport to Engrassia from Lubelius. I believe Lubelius has a barrier protecting it, making it difficult to approach. If you ever get a chance to look at a map of Slime-world, you should take advantage of it, imo. It really helps to see the layout of the different lands. The Rozzo’s hail from a small country on the northern coast between Engrassia and Falmuth (not enough to keep the latter two from sharing a border too). There are three main routes from East to West. One is through Dwargon. One is through the Jura Forest. The third is between these two, but is a high mountain range populated by dragons (not the true Dragons). Notice the Rozzo’s refused to work with Damrada on the issue of the church, saying they had it handled. If you recall, Glenda did say at the Rozzo meeting that the Church didn't know what they (the Rozzo's) were doing, and the grandfather Rozzo said steps were taken to get the other two Battlesages besides Glenda involved in Falmuth. ..... So they have something to do with it. Diablo and Shion agree with Adalmann: they should set up a new religion with Rimuru as its deity. I spoke about the secrets to Rimuru’s extraordinary power last week, but I only was referring to his physical power. Those factors, briefly, were outrageous naming sprees, power-sharing, and Skills, esp. those related to connections with his people. There are other kinds of power that he has, as well: (1) Rimuru’s alliances and bonds with other countries and individuals not his people; some of these people might almost be both. (2) The influence of Tempest’s trade and technology, and the effort Rimuru puts towards achieving these things; (3) His unusual origins as a slime in the cave where Veldora happened to be confined. (Note: It would have probably been impossible for Rimuru to come to being in any other cave, as a Slime unlike any other Slime, and then meeting, befriending, and forming a bond with Veldora.) A question: why is Rimuru here in the first place? Does it signify anything? Just a topic for speculation. Beyond this question, most people arriving in this world are given powers according to their strong desires. It means, in my eyes, that people’s already-present talents and ambitions are made stronger when they are in the new world. It means there is an opportunity that didn’t exist in the previous one to actualize those goals. People can try to be a truer version of themselves than was possible before. Rimuru is one for whom this is working. But this magnification can lead some with bad personalities to be more dangerous in their ambition than before. An early example of this was the trio who were Summoned by Falmuth and were sent to create a ruckus in Tempest. These were given more power than their personalities could withstand without corrupting them. In addition, this world is rather unfinished compared to ours. It is possible to have a bigger effect in the new world than would be possible in their old world. On to this episode: They didn't create one misunderstanding. This was carefully produced. They included several fail-safes to make it difficult to resolve the situation. The Seven Days (Luminaries) in particular, planted several seeds, and then it was watered by assumptions, doubts, and confirmation bias. Remember Yuuki said he was going to lie low for the time being, given their recent losses. But Yuuki is the head of the Guild, and they mentioned the Guild, among others, was involved with King Edward. He also said he wouldn't do anything, but that didn’t mean he wouldn't say anything. There are layers of influence. Terminology Time! The Crusaders aka Holy Knights aka Paladins are the ones with Hinata right now. They work for the Church. The flashback from Season 2 used different titles from Season 3. Confusing! Same with the Master Rooks aka Imperial Guard. The three leaders of this group are the Three Battlesages (Saare, Grigori, and Glenda). These work for Lubelius. In the group around the table last week, three on one side are the Battlesages. The other six, are leaders of the Holy Knights (Crusaders), are the ones more personally loyal to Hinata, and these six are in the two groups who just arrived in Tempest. Btw, Hinata has two Unique Skills, one is an analysis type. The 30,000 army is headed to former king Edmaris' stronghold in Falmuth, not Tempest, but Rimuru sent a force there to support him and Youm. I think they said in the Rozzo's meeting that they weren't expecting Rimuru to do that, thinking Rimuru would have his hands full with Hinata's forces. Just to remind you, there are layers of people in the group of plotters. Even those you see plotting against Rimuru may not be the leaders. I talked about the Yomigaeri a bit last week. They are aka Team Reborn. Some persons call them the zombie army. That's a nickname someone came up with. The source calls them "almost immortal", and the like, repeatedly, and says spiritual attacks would be more effective on them. In Shion's grueling training, the group further acquired numerous resistances, as well as Cancel Pain. Their strength, besides Perfect Memory, is their amazing ability to regenerate, and it was said that they could even recover from decapitation. The key to this battle is that the Crusaders underestimated the Tempest forces, and were disconcerted by their failure to die. Shion had trained the Team to make the most of this characteristic. Their tactics utilized teams of 3 in a coordinated way to take down each Crusader. The little girl is the same girl who Shion protected in Season 2 when she was frozen in front of the charging Falmuth knights. Now they never say this was the same girl in the novel that I can find, but they do feature a little girl in the battle who says the same thing as in the anime. This girl is named Gobwe, and Rimuru is shocked when told she's actually older in years than Gobta. Gobwa (not Gobwe), in the novel, is merely described as a large woman, no character design iirc, but you can tell they put main character-level effort into her design for the anime. The ramen was the product of an idea that Rimuru communicated to Mjollmile, as a proposed business opportunity. Like a chain of fast-food restaurants. He needed Mjollmile's business acumen and investment to do all the groundwork and footwork. Meanwhile, back in Tempest, Rimuru tasked Gobuichi (the Hobgoblin chef with the protruding brow) with development of standardized recipes for various types of ramen, and Rimuru helped with finding sources for ingredients and authentication of the flavors. These ramen were served in Tempest to fine-tune the flavors, texture, just like a test market, and then there was brand marketing. Just one of Rimuru's business ventures, with or without Mjollmile, and personal or on the behalf of Tempest. There are a lot of other world-building elements in the novels that they only touch upon in the anime. Currency is all coin, with the gold standard, and the most internationally-trusted currency is gold coins from Dwargon. These coins have serial numbers, so even if Rimuru duplicated it, the coins would be identified as counterfeit. There's not much of a currency exchange, and no real banking system, except a rudimentary one for adventurers at the Guild. Barter is still common, even among merchants. The monsters in Tempest don't have much use for money, and they don't have currency. There are still no salaries for them, but Rimuru is trying to come up with some way to reward people. The country's Treasury is fairly empty, so Rimuru was happy to get those Stellar gold coins from Falmuth. At the inn on the road, humans have been hired to work with the monsters to get the monsters used to dealing with humans, and using currency. There are many merchants and others flowing through Tempest bringing money, so some people have been dealing with it already. It is just that behind the scenes money is not being exchanged for services rendered to or by the government or society at large. There is still a communal kitchen, cafeteria, and dining hall where meals are free. I think by this point Rimuru has instituted classes for basic reading, writing, and arithmetic. The classes for children are for two main reasons, which are similar to what you hear in the real world: (1) development of workers able to take on future jobs; and (2) development of citizens who can consume news and entertainment for prosperity, informed participation in government, and happiness. Probably one of the most important precepts that Rimuru laid down was that you must work (except children). I am not sure what stage we are in with how they control immigration. Rimuru is still pretty open to accepting new citizens but they need to contribute. They are trying to weed out troublemakers, though. Later, as they start to reach their limit for unskilled laborers, as large-scale development slows down, they will need to be more selective. They will still accept some unskilled people, but they will send them to training according to their interests and abilities. In fact, there will be further changes to the immigration system later. As for what the unit of length is, Rimuru just used kilometers, since there was no standard anyway, and he's got his own country, so he just went with it. Hinata isn't just amazed about the ramen per se. She's amazed at the effort put into reproducing it, and the roads too. Who is this Slime? How is he so utterly competent? I said above that this world brings out potential, Skills are based on desires, which gives shape and power to ambition. One person can have a greater impact in Slime world than on Earth. But even then you have to ask, isn't Rimuru still over-performing, even given all that increased freedom to act? Overall, now one can see that certain things have been arranged to happen at once, which was one reason for the delays. And now some of the bits of random lore that seemed gratuitous before are becoming relevant. Of course, we have also been setting up some of what comes after the immediate arc, and sometimes far into the future.

Unironically one of my favorite episodes of the first half of the season, mainly because we see how Rimuru influences and advances that world through the eyes of someone who came from our world and had to live for years in a place that is far less advanced. The feeling of rediscovering things thought to be long lost is definitely something that I could see myself having if I was in Hinata's place. And these advances are made not only by recreating what we have in our world, but by doing it through the use of what that world has to offer, that is to say, magic, skills, runes and manipulation of magicules. That way, the world starts feeling both familiar and still fantastic at the same time.

Interesting, last season you were champing at the bit for the fight to start and were frustrated with all the talking and here you are praying for talking not fighting.

I'm glad you commented on it, cause I also loved how we got to see outsiders reaction to Tempest's developments and how everyone is living. I could watch a whole arc of Hinata's squad just discovering the world Rimuru is trying to create. It's a story angle that is pretty unique to slime, I wish we could see more of it.

The irony of it being this episode when I was literally in the middle of planning Japanese for tomorrow night's dinner! 🤤 - Listen, politics are never simple. Tensura has a natural gift of making everything 12X harder than it has to be. So obviously Tensura's political climate is a dumpster fire in the middle of a volcano located in the 3rd ring of the 7th circle of hell. 🤣 As you pointed out there is almost too many people with their sights set on causing trouble in Tempest. Everyone has an agenda and no one wants to share theirs with anyone else. So we end up with people manipulating others, but then also being manipulated themselves. Pft, how dare Clayman ever claim to be a puppet master! He could barely control sock puppets comparatively to all these people. No spoilers, but I will say that CURRENTLY the biggest problem Rimuru has seems to be The Seven Day Clergy aka The Robed Dicks. They are quite effectively manipulating their own order to turn against itself and even disregard the orders of their God. Rimuru obviously has no way of knowing any of that but for us at least we can see that without them stirring shit there would be a fraction of the issues Tempest currently faces. - Hinata's group traveling through Tempst's allied lands and Tempest is a HUGE deal! They have been indoctrinated to believe that all monsters are evil and only want to destroy. Them seeing not only everything that they've built but witnessing ordinary monsters out in the world interacting with humans, and obviously possessing high intelligence/empathy challenges everything they've ever been taught. Witnessing them not only defeat their knights in battle, but spare them is practically a death knell for the basis of their entire order. - I agree, it is SOOOO frustrating to watch everything unravel and just desperately want them to simply TALK to eachother. Rimuru and Hinata are both highly intelligent people, so seeing neither of them just put a hold on the fighting tears at the nerves. - Once again Rimuru's people casually giving him the simple option of murder to fix his problems is a running theme that will never fail to make me laugh! Soei just offering to poison Hinata always sends me into a fit of giggles. 😆 - SO, who's ready for a rematch!?! No one honestly, but it's here anyways so STRAP IN! 😈 - Awesome guys! Seeing you two really get into the intrigue and plots is so satisfying. I can't wait for the next episode! 🩷💛🩵
