WHERE IS THE EXIT!? | The Amazing Digital Circus - Pilot

Comments

Man its cool to finally see you react to this. This whole show is wild. Its the most popular indie animated show of all time at this point, the pilot episode has over 350 million views on youtube alone! And thats on top of the show now releasing simultaniously on both YouTube and Netflix. Glitch productions somehow managed to get the show on Netflix without giving up creative rights to the big wigs, which is incredible. It is NOT on Amazon prime though. The show so far has 4 episodes. #1 The Pilot, #2 Candy Carrier Chaos, #3, The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor, and #4 Fast Food Masquerade. And more are likely to release soon, but as with all indie shows, episodes will come out whenever its ready, release schedules arent fixed, though so far it has been around 2-6 months between each episode with the last one coming out in December. The Amazing Digital circus is just plain huge but ESPECIALLY in Japan. There's dedicated Japanese merch all over, pop up stores and Cafes themed to the show, animated billboard advertisements on some of the busiest squares in the country! Its wild! The creator of it, Gooseworx, is actually a close friend of the creator of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, Vivienne Medrano and has been for many years now. Gooseworx actually did the background score for Hazbin Hotel, as well as a few one off designs for both shows. Gooseworx actually also made a few animations of their own in the past, with the most famous one being one called "Little Runmo" about a little video game character finding a surreal, twisted, and dark underworld underneath the one in his game in his attempt to clear a level. Btw if you're curious at who Glitch productions are, they're an independent animation studio in Australia, created by 2 dudes that built a career making sketch comedy videos on Youtube using Super Mario 64 and Garys Mod. They're now one of the biggest and most succesful studiohouses in the indie animation industry and have several shows done and in the works, like Murder Drones, Meta runner, and the upcoming shows "The Gaslight district" and "The Knights of Guineavere" (the latter being created by the creative team behind the beloved Disney series "The Owl House"). Though the Amazing Digital Circus has by far been their biggest hit so far by a landslide.

It's "abstracted", to clarify. It says it in the subtitles. And there's only 4 episodes out currently, a new one is released every couple of months when its ready (we're due for episode 5 any day now actually). For a pilot, there's a LOT of information being dumped, and a lot of subtle things that wont mean anything until later. There's a fair bit of subtext to the story too, so be on the look out for subtle things to read into. I really think this is one of the best web series, both the animation and the writing are top-tier (excluding the first episode which is so far the weakest). Glad to see you reacting to it :)

That's totally fair, and I fully intend to watch this whole series now that I've started it. Both on here and on GLITCH channel itself. I just wanted to give an honest of a review as I could for my first impression.

I want to point out that the pilot was written way earlier than the rest of the show and the creator, Gooseworx, wishes she could change it since it's not her best work (particularly the dialogue). And I agree, it's definitely not the best episode to judge the show on.

I've avoided this show for many years now. There was always something about the design that just didn't appeal to me. I'm happy to be proven correct, for myself at least. The animation and production itself is awesome! I won't deny GLITCH is doing an amazing job with it's shows. It's the story so far that isn't resonating or really keeping my attention. I literally started dozing while Pomni was in the Exit maze. Personal problem, the show has potential though, so this should be an interesting reaction series. I will say that it wasn't as funny as I was lead to believe. 🤷‍♀️ Anyhoo, I'm sorry you aren't a circus fan John, I've always had a lot of fun at them and have very fond memories of them. Meh, to each thy own, I know that that they can be polarizing as hell. As a sidebar one of my all time favorite creators has a new show about to come out on GLITCH, Dana Terrace! If you've never heard of her I can't recommend the shows she's been involved with enough, they're ALL great. I think you guys would really like them, the one coming out on GLITCH is for adults and is called Knights of Guinevere. She created, wrote and I think directed some. Her other shows were 'aimed at kids' since they were on Disney channel, but I can tell you they are HIGHLY entertaining! She directed and storyboarded some of Ducktales 2017, she worked on Gravity Falls with Alex Hirsch. And of course, my all time FAVORITE, Owl House! She created, wrote, produced, and I think she even directed quite a few episodes. Seriously, if you've never checked it out I can not praise it enough. 🩷💛🩵

This show is very goofy and unhinged on the surface, but beneath that is a lot of mystery and horror. The show also gets quite psychological at times. There're a lot of theories as to the exact nature of the Digital Circus including it being some kind of computer program or game, or possibly Purgatory. About the only things for certain are that Cain is largely in charge, humans cycle through as various characters and their existence in the Circus revolves around going on various adventures and not going insane and becoming Abstracted like poor Kaufmo. Also, the show is only on YouTube and Netflix. Also, also I think the Backrooms is what you were thinking of when Pomni was running through the office area.

BakaSama

my guess cane is some kinda of creator or divine being or something like that

Cerulean Spectre

the doors with the red x on them means they got obstructed i think that's just a guess

Cerulean Spectre

great reaction and this gets kinda wild
