THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS - Ep 2: Candy Carrier Chaos! | Reaction

Caine sends Pomni and the others on another adventure, this time to help the Candy Canyon Kingdom
'Why are there so many knives back here?' is possibly the most valid question I've ever heard in media. 😶
Chris I'd like to take this moment to thank you for voicing the thought, 'I had a feeling they'd be Australian sounding.' I had the exact same thought but sure as hell didn't have to confidence to say it. 😅
Pomni and Gummigoo leaving the undermap viscerally reminded me of Alice falling into Wonderland.
So yeah, this show seems guaranteed increase depression by an exponential percent... fun times!😆
Interesting episode guys, I'll be on the look out for the next.

Slight correction but it's officially spelled "Gummigoo". Thats what they use on their merch website.

So that dev room thing they go to is what's known in game development as an "asset zoo". It's where you put all of the game assets in one level so you can test them out all at once. The grid texture is also something used in game development to prototype levels.
The teapots are whats known as the Utah Teapot, and it's a very famous 3D model made back in the 70s. It's often used to test out 3D software (or just as a sort of 3D artist joke), hence why we see it on the way to the asset zoo.
The scene at 16:20 where Pomni has a heart-to-heart talk with Gummigoo is deep. I personally think the subtext is important for understanding what this show is *actually* about.
My interpretation (HEAVY emphasis that it's only an interpretation) is that this scene is subtextually talking about the nihilistic despair of believing that after you die there is simply nothing, and all of your life just disappears along with all of your memories, friendships and everything. Gummigoo is trying to reconcile with going on knowing that nothing in the real world matters anymore.
I guess from that angle, because she comes from 'the real world', Pomni could be interpreted to be symbolic of an "angel" offering Gummigoo a chance to live in "heaven" (the digital circus). Though I don't know what to make of that.
But that all ties in with how we see the episode end with the funeral scene. Pomni tackles her own existential despair (that we saw depicted in her nightmare at the start) by taking comfort in the people around her that are all in the same boat, just like Gummigoo did.
