One thing they skipped in this episode that I donโ€™t think is a spoiler is showing more about the power of the S rank in society. In the books the hospital obviously does not want to release the first person to ever wake from the sleeping sickness. However when it is pointed out that her son is the new S rank, it changes things and they release her rather than go against his wishes. And all those S ranks in one place? get ready to rumble

I wonder how much of the IRL tensions between South Korea and Japan are going to filter into the anime in the interactions of the two countries Hunters?

great reaction and this episode pulled at your heartstrings

This episode was amazing! It highlighted all the important issues of the series so far AND going forward. - LOVE that you guys pointed out that this is now the second high rank healer we've seen retire. The woman you're thinking about is named JooHee, and we actually saw her again in this episode and the episode where they announce Jinwoo's S rank! You pointed out my feelings and thoughts exactly about hunters, just because they have the ability doesn't mean they have the mentality. Every person is built different, and some people are just flat out not meant for combat. JooHee was obviously good at being a healer, otherwise she'd never have been able to fix so many of Jinwoo's intense wounds during raids, but she isn't built for battle. If ever there was a healer meant to nurture life and bring babies into the world it's her! She clearly cares about the people she treats and desperately wanted to be able to deal with the atrocities she witnessed to be able to help them, and especially Jinwoo. This other healer we saw in this episode is from episode 1 season 1. He's the one we saw charge into battle and beat back the ant to get to the wounded hunter. So we know he has the ability to fight and atleast the skill for battle, which means whatever he lived through afterwards had to have been almost unimaginably terrifying for him to have simply walked away after the raid. This storyline is so important because it ties back to not just Jinwoo, but every hunter. They all suddenly woke up one day capable of astounding abilities. That doesn't mean they were accepting of their lives being suddenly upended, or were suddenly capable of processing extreme violence and combat with grace. - I did call it last episode. There was no way Jinwoo was going to simply walk away from hunting after he completed his mission to save his mom. His personality and self loathing for ever having been 'weak' were always going to be the driving force for him to still level up. All the shit he took from other hunters, and all the humiliation / degradation he had to swallow was not just going to be forgotten. He is now not only being respected, but practically worshiped. Goes back to what I said way back, he's experiencing video game highs in real life. He's not gonna even mentally acknowledge that walking away is an option. - Seeing Jinwoo outwardly express emotions is such a big deal! He's even acknowledged that his emotions and humanity have been slipping further and further away from him since he became a player and started leveling up. It's fantastic to see him let himself feel! This moment and having his family whole and close to him is going to be a key factor in whatever the system has in-store for him coming up. We know that the system picked him for SOMETHING, and that it has been prepping him. Having links to his humanity is going to come into play whenever we get to whatever this catastrophe is. - Jinwoo casually reaching over to hold Jinah's face to scold her is such an older sibling thing to do! ๐Ÿคฃ Their poor mom, miraculously wakes from practical death, then instead of spending time at home relaxing for a night and bonding with her children it was right back to picking up her kids' mess! Mom life never stops. ๐Ÿ˜‚ - Seeing the other S ranks and accompanying A ranks get together is going just about as well as I thought it would. Pissing contests left, right, and center! Atleast they haven't brought the building down yet. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ - I believe Jinwoo was going to go to Jeju one way or another. Whether with the guilds or by himself. He isn't going to miss the opportunity the island presents to him for not only leveling up, but seeing how the other S ranks perform in battle. - I'm so excited for the next episode! Seeing the guilds train together and adapt to eachother is going to be fascinating. I'm also hoping that Jinwoo's dad makes an appearance. His storyline is very gripping. - Amazing reaction guys! You both brought up a lot of my own questions and theories. The next episode can't come fast enough! ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฉต
