Mjollmile and Veldora are really starting to get along with each other. III. Issues. A. The Forest in Floor 95 has started growing and it has now expanded up to Floor 71. / Ramiris. This doesn't include Floors 91 to 94. Veldora's Boss-level monsters are missing. / Veldora. B. The Forest is sucking up the magicules before the monsters can be spawned. One tempest serpent had been born (rank: A-minus), but it was designated as the boss of Floor 40. C. Ramiris wants materials to make a new Elemental Colossus. The plan was only to open up to Floor 50 at this time. D. Shuna, Treyni, and Ranga all had suggestions for who could handle these problems. 1. Shuna suggested Adalmann as a boss. Gabiru seconded that. Rimuru put him on Floor 60. Rimuru put Ramiris's future Colossus on Floor 70. 2. Treyni suggested Zegion and Apito to clean up Floors 71-80 (where the vegetation was lightest). They could summon their underlings, so they could clean up those floors. Zegion could be boss of Floor 80. Treyni had nothing but praise for his protection of the treant homeland up to then. Veldora said he would be glad to train Zegion. Rimuru, while acknowledging he was definitely stronger than a tempest serpent, thought he was still just a bug. 3. Finally, Ranga suggested the fox spirit Rimuru rescued from Clayman at Walpurgis. She said that she is gifted at clearing out forests. She wants to blaze animal trails through the forest. IV. Souei's Report. The Hero had taken down the entire Orthrus slave-market organization. A. Led certain nobility to suffer severe consequences e.g., Kazak. B. Orthrus had connections to almost every nation in the world. Armed, with many battle slaves, including Majin and magical beasts. Despite enough military power to rival a small country, it only took a Hero and his party to take it down. C. Hero is Lightspeed Masayuki. Was now regarded as the strongest person in the West after Rimuru's victory over Hinata (although that story wasn't supposed to be the official story). D. Because there were rumors Masayuki was coming to Tempest to slay Rimuru, some of Rimuru's staff wanted to put Masayuki in his place. But no matter his intentions, Rimuru doesn't want any problems during his Festival. ~~~~~Masayuki’s Skill looks like luck, but it's only that in part. People get sucked in, and they think he's something he's not, and he feels like a fraud. He also feels like people are only drawn to him because of his Skill, because there's a Charm component to it, and he can't turn off any part of the Skill. He can't control what the general public says about him either. Luckily some people are resistant (it's a Unique Skill). You can see Yuuki for one is not affected. A few episodes back Yuuki said he was going to give the Orthrus job to "that guy" to give him something to do. Oh, and Masayuki had dyed his hair blonde back in Japan. That's actually important data. In Volume 9 Prologue we get the story of Masayuki Honjo. --Highschool student. 16yo. Dyed his hair light blonde. Some Russian heritage. More than averagely popular, had some presence but not too physically strong. Secret hobby: manga and anime, pretty hard-core. About 5’6”. --He saw a beautiful girl (it wasn’t Rimuru, but it’s important), but no one else seemed to notice her, then he was suddenly somewhere else. --Girl runs into his arms. Jinrai comes out. --Words of the World: “Champion-like heroic behavior detected. Unique Skill Chosen One unlocked. Deploy? “Language skills acquired. Deploying Heroic Aura and Heroic Compensation.” --Jinrai had failed his B-rank exam. Masayuki wasn't any good in a fight. But he was good at bluffing. (Is that why he got that skill?) Masayuki's aim was to stall and run away. Masayuki decided to do something involving a token attack then escaping, but WotW decided it detected “forward-facing courage”. Which unlocked further powers Heroic Charm and Heroic Action. “The subject Masayuki has now fully unlocked the Unique skill Chosen One.” Masayuki had intended to spit his gum in Jinrai’s face and run. Somehow the voice had interpreted that as heroic. Now Jinrai is feeling a force from Masayuki. Masayuki’s Chosen One skill all working in tandem. Unique Skill Chosen One: ===Heroic Aura: An overpowering aura that can be unleashed by champions. Also acquired by Gazel, king of the dwarves. Lesser enemies will be frozen on the spot, awed by this unique aura and ready to take orders from its wielder. ===Heroic Compensation: Grants the user immense luck, making all regular attacks critical blows. The effect is applied to any companions of the user as well. Also has the effect of making anything the Chosen One says and does interpreted in a positive light by the people around them—a starkly powerful effect. ===Heroic Charm: Rouses the hearts of anyone watching the user in action, reducing their fear and stimulating their bravery. Anyone affected trusts in the champion, seeking to travel in their path. As another effect, anyone defeated by the champion will join their side and become their companion. This effect also applies to all non-undead monsters. ===Heroic Action: The user’s activities are all the first steps to becoming a champion. They provide guidance for their companions, eventually earning them all praise. Further… (Yes, it does trail off here, implying there’s more but they aren’t going to tell us the rest just yet.) "That was the gist of what the unique skill Chosen One offered. It was actually one of the rarest of all uniques, a superior skill that ranked up there with the ultimate in superpowers—alongside skills like Absolute Severance and Unlimited Imprisonment, as wielded by the Heroes of the past. (A special class of Unique Skill: almost at the level of an Ultimate Skill) "Jinrai may’ve been strong enough to call the shots around this town, but he was powerless against Masayuki’s skill. Unfortunately, Masayuki himself had no idea about any of this. He had just fully unlocked one of the most fearsome uniques anyone in this world could ever dream of, and he was clueless about it. He was clueless, but fortunately, that was all right. Chosen One was a passive skill. Masayuki wanted to be a hero, and now that Chosen One was his, there was no stopping it. And whether he wanted to or not, Masayuki was hurtling toward a new, heroic destiny at unstoppable speed." “Yes… A blond-haired Hero…” “It must be. I have heard of this…” “Ah yes, there was a Hero like this in the past, no? I heard he went missing.” “Has he been revived…?” ==People thinking Yuuki going after a competitor. Nah. Remember Yuuki is a genius. If you think you’ve figured his plan or motivations out, you probably need to look harder. ==Some things to think about, based on things said previously in the anime. 1. Several episodes back, we learned that except for the connection to the Rozzo’s, Yuuki wants to go dormant in the West, but they were continuing with exotic beasts to Echidna. Who and what is supposed to go dormant? In the middle of that discussion of what had just happened, Damrada said that Diablo might not be unbeatable, but Cerberus would likely be annihilated. Yuuki and Damrada talk about laying low, and Damrada talks about going home. Damrada asks Yuuki: Now, as for the slave trade we've been working on here? Yuuki: Right, there was that, huh? I don't want to deal with Orthrus. Let's just crush them. Damrada: Should we also release the rare monsters we were sending to Echidna? Yuuki: Nah, handle goods of special classification as always. We still have our window with the Rozzo's, after all. Damrada says he’ll take care of it and leaves. Kagali enters: So what made you decide to crush Orthrus? Yuuki: That's easy. I just thought I’d give him a chance to achieve something. Kagali: ….Ah, right. Him. You always have the most interesting ideas. Yuuki: Right? 2. Contrary to everyone else getting their Skills because they reflect their desires, it almost seems like Chosen One chooses Masayuki. It's even in the name. After that all of those parts like Heroic Charm, and Heroic Action, etc. are simply unlocked by his actions, and not even much action, no great struggles necessary. The whole thing is just a jumble of randomness. Yuuki is the guy who probably did think 10 moves ahead like in chess, but I am not sure he's planning to get rid of Rimuru at this time. He was supposed to be lying low, particularly from Rimuru and Hinata. He was invited to this festival and so was Hinata. (At the end of the episode where Rimuru goes around inviting Mjollmile and Fuze in person, he asks Fuze to pass along an invitation to Yuuki.) Yuuki is attending because he just thinks the whole thing will be fun. Masayuki being involved with Yuuki is only natural. Masayuki is a top-rank adventurer registered with the Guild, and Yuuki is the leader of said guild. He is a known Otherworlder who takes an interest in Otherworlders as well. 3. The operation to get rid of Orthrus included 2000 adventurers and Ballachian support troops. ....... Masayuki's team are important, particularly Bernie and Jiwu. Jiwu, an elementalist, is described instead as a spirit magic user in the LN. There's a section of the book earlier that talks about the similarities and differences between these two concepts. I may talk about this later. Bernie (I have seen his name rendered Barney or Bonnie), they say, is a wizard, which has a specific definition as well, it's short so if I find in the LN where they talk about that, I will also get back. Mjurran is also described as a wizard. There's a bit of Bernie's backstory. He was American, and went to the Engrassia Institute which sounds like a magic school. He has a Unique Skill, which is not described, but it lets him resist Chosen One. 4. They took the occasion to talk about the language barrier of Otherworlders. No one knows the language when they arrive in the new world. But it is possible to learn to speak and understand it by magic. One must work to learn how to read and write, though. Rimuru was lucky with Great Sage. In Episodes 1 and 2 they say that Rimuru's ability to understand the spoken language is due to Magic Sense, a fairly basic monster Skill. ........... 5. The main effect of the Orthrus incident for Masayuki was that he became famous not only in Engrassia, but all the Western Nations. (I wonder how much Yuuki wanted that to happen. I can't believe he wouldn't anticipate it.) ............. 6. Final point about Masayuki on the cusp of arriving in Tempest. The LN points out that Masayuki is aware that everything had gone well up to then. But he hadn't really done anything. Hinata was said to be strong, but he didn't know from personal experience, since he had never met her. But Yuuki praised Hinata. So if Hinata couldn't beat Rimuru, maybe Rimuru is tough. So he tried to hedge by telling his party that he had heard Rimuru wanted to be friends with humans. His party (Jinrai) were saying that Rimuru was probably just afraid, one (Jiwu) said demon lords were just evil, and the last (Bernie) said, we need to wait and see, but if Hinata and Rimuru had settled terms, then the only hope of anyone defeating Demon Lord Rimuru rests on Masayuki. Which illustrates how his friends' and the public's expectations weigh on Masayuki. It's hard for him to go against this. Now, for Masayuki's part, he thinks he himself is nothing special, but he thinks his companions are utter beasts, so although he agrees there should be caution, and he doesn't want to start trouble, he thinks his party could probably beat Rimuru. He's gotten used to thinking everything will probably somehow work out. ....... But think about this: he's never met Hinata, a monster, a Majin, or a Demon Lord. And many of these would be resistant to his Skill as well.

May not be the hero because he wants to be, but just because he's the best at killing demons haha. Oh the elves, freaking I'm sure Rimuru has the perfect idea for how to help them lol. Their bloodlust is adorable is such a perfect way to describe his crew. I love it. Getting closer and closer to festival time and I'm just so freaking stoked to see how it all plays out!

He's constantly falling upward. 😂 His skill is a different kind of OP than we're used to seeing with Rimuru, but he's a cool guy atleast, if a little naive. - Elves, coming to Tempest you say? Oh boy, Rimuru better watch that his thoughts don't wonder. 😅 - Yep, Yuuki still stirring the pot behind the scenes. If he wasn't such a tool he'd almost be likeable since occasionally his scheming results in good things. Like Rimuru helping the kids or the elves being freed from slavery. - Once again the Tempest Crew casually offering to murder anyone who has so much as a whisper about them possibly being a problem is endearing in the most violent of ways. Bless them all, their bloodlust is adorable. - I love how Mjollmile being the new kid in town comes so prepared, not realizing he's actually dropped into barley leashed chaos and carnage. 🤣 - Rimuru and speeches are always such interesting happenings. He's actually good at them when he tries, but rarely does he meet everyone's expectations of a 'great leader'. Oh well, I like them. 🤷♀️ - Yes that is the fox from Clayman. Keep an eye on her, she's more than a kawaii face. ☺️ - Fun reaction guys. The main players are gathering and the festival is growing by the second... this is going to be so much fun!
