THE GREAT DUNGEON CHALLENGE! | That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime - Episode 23 | Season 3

It's the final day of the festival and the big reveal of the dungeon is at hand!

THE GREAT DUNGEON CHALLENGE! | That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime - Episode 23 | Season 3

Comments

The Dungeon opening. Rimuru went to do one last check. Ramiris and Veldora are proud of themselves, which worries Rimuru. He reminds them that after today, they are closing the labyrinth. They are shocked. He wants to fine-tune the difficulty levels. So he wants to close for two or three days. Besides, they hadn't worked out admission prices, and they needed trained workers to sell the Labyrinth Cards (tickets). Everyone was still busy with running the rest of the festival, or enjoying it. He wanted to talk it over with Mjollmile. So they agreed to be patient. Rimuru wants to know where Milim is. She apparently had taken two unlimited-use Resurrection Bracelets and ran off. (Wonder why?) Rimuru reminded them he had given control of Levels 96-99, where the dragons were, to Milim. Ramiris said Milim has been putting a lot of work in down there, and she had even passed the rights to the dragons over to Ramiris. Remember these are upper-level (elemental) Arch Dragons. As such, they aren't intelligent. They say they are currently as intelligent as a typical farm animal. But these Arch Dragons are close to evolving into Dragon Lords (or Kings). As they are they have taken on an element but when they evolve it will become more intrinsic? I guess. My description back then has some details about how strong they are, where the dragons come from, how they evolve, their elemental affinities, etc. But at this time, Milim had told Ramiris that if she raised them right and they evolved into Dragon Lords, they’d be able to understand Ramiris's commands. If you care for them like a pet, they could connect with you. When Elmesia arrived in Tempest, the dragon carrying the gondola was such a Dragon Lord. For now, Ramiris had put collars (like Resurrection Bracelets) on them. She said, as her beloved servants, she wanted to clearly establish the hierarchy. Ramiris said Milim had said she had found new playmates to help keep her dragons in shape. Knowing that Milim was probably out of the way for the opening, Rimuru invited Ramiris and Veldora to come up top. Ramiris agreed cheerfully. Veldora said it was his duty to await his challengers at Floor 100. Despite Rimuru having told him repeatedly that no one was going to get there in one day. Up top. Diablo was done refereeing, and joined up with Rimuru. It looked like few had left the festival early. Rimuru had high hopes for the dungeon as one of the centerpieces of the nation’s future development. Soka and Mjollmile were the spokespersons for this event. The tech used to project the action on a screen was similar to what was used during the tournament. This is actually important. In the LN a video-recording crystal ball was stored inside the machine. The ball was “inscribed with magical communication spells that let it record images far away and project them here….” They asked for volunteers. Masayuki was already planning to go as per the agreement with Rimuru, hopefully to serve as advertising. Basson stepped up, proclaiming he would rip the facade off the Labyrinth, just like the phony battle tournament. (He didn't enter the tournament because he was too late because the roads were crowded.) Rimuru thought there were probably a lot of people who thought they were invincible but that was okay because they’d be their customers. Basson went on to say Masayuki was strong but he should have seen the fight (or any fight) through to the end, and letting the Demon Lord off the hook was sickening. His party members (Gomez included) agreed it was all a scam. Rimuru reminded Shion and Diablo they were just overconfident, besides it would be more fun if there were people like them. Elen’s trio spoke up next. Rimuru had been having the group help to found Youm's new country. They had been going around the Free Guild’s Farmenas locations, helping however they could. A B-rank party would be impressive, and their party was now a B+. As members of the Free Guild they were allowed to pass through international borders unhindered (at least in the West). The third party was Masayuki's. Jinrai was now wearing the mithril armor Rimuru had given him. It was made by Garm and rated Rare. It was heavier than Youm’s Exo-Armor, not quite as effective but just as durable. Also it had anti-poison effects. Rimuru has given a rapier to Masayuki as a present. When asked at lunch why he never drew his sword, it was because it was heavy. Even just holding it for a while was a bit too much. Rimuru, in giving Masayuki this rapier, advised him to work out a little more. It was actually an earlier version of Hinata's rapier, but it didn't have the effect of killing on the seventh hit. It also had a slight recovery-from-exhaustion feature. The audience didn't question the change in equipment. There was a planned time limit of 3 hours for the demo, and Rimuru's plan was to keep everyone from getting past the 5th Floor. So only three parties, thought Rimuru. But of course people would think twice about challenging a shady, demon lord-run labyrinth. Which attitude he hoped to take care of today. Gaiye suddenly showed up. He accused Rimuru and his Big Four of playing dirty, of being afraid of his talent, he was going to show them! Basically. He apparently couldn't understand how Ranga had beaten him, so he decided it had all been a trap. Diablo and Shion were up-in-arms again. Rimuru started to think maybe he needed to think harder about how to deal with Shion in particular, who had become quite sensitive to every affront to Rimuru. Rimuru was a bit concerned that Gaiye wanted to solo the labyrinth but decided it'd be a good idea to see how a single adventurer would do. Now they had their challengers. The Rules and Introduction. The dryads would be acting as “cameramen”. There were a few dryads: Treyni, Trya, and Doreth (there are different spellings). The four who would be accompanying the parties (only for this demo), were young and inexperienced in battle, but they had tremendous magical force. They were named Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta. **** Rimuru has been able to adjust his naming technique. Because dryads were high-level monsters, Rimuru just had them consume their own magicules. Ramiris was their boss and Rimuru just helped come up with their names. Rimuru wanted them to have names because they looked alike, as sisters, and it would help humans keep them straight. Monsters often used magical waveforms to identify each other. **** Soka handed out the items. Rimuru expected no one would get out of the first floor, since it was a mile of walking at minimum to the stairway. (Supposed to be 250 meters on a side.) Rimuru is planning to have, for advertising purposes only this time, chests with decent equipment set up on Floor 1, although normally that wouldn't start until Floor 2. Now Soka talked about the Resurrection Bracelets. She said it resurrected you from the dead. The audience was skeptical. Soka made sure everyone knew it wouldn't work outside the labyrinth. Ramiris had upgraded the bracelets to the point they canceled pain (upon determining you were dead–I say, isn't that too late? But I guess they mean only for the killing blow.) The bracelets also gave a 10 second delay between death and teleportation, so if someone could take some remediation measures in time, you could get away with not having to be transported back. But Resurrection, being a divine Skill, was rare. Also, Full Potions couldn't normally resurrect the soul, but in the Labyrinth a soul was stuck to their body, so inside the Labyrinth you could “resurrect” people with a Full Potion. But Rimuru didn't want to encourage this because some people might get the idea it would work outside the Labyrinth. That's why, unless you did a Resurrection spell, your body and soul would get teleported outside in ten seconds. Now they were looking for bracelet test volunteers. No one wanted to do it, and Gaiye said (rudely) that he thought Mjollmile should do it. Mjollmile had observed Shion's Yomigaeri (the ones who can come back to life) experiment with the bracelets many times, and he had, as we were told, gone through it once himself already. When Gaiye attacked Mjollmile, once inside the Labyrinth, Rimuru saw that Gaiye was playing with Mjollmile, and Rimuru almost lost his temper, but he saw that Mjollmile was smiling so he calmed down. Then Gaiye cut his head off. (Oh, minor detail, but they specifically mention that Mjollmile's clothes came back with the body.) Gaiye’s attitude actually made the demonstration more convincing. But nothing was 100% risk-free, so the best plan was to try not to die. Rimuru realized that Mjollmile put up with Gaiye because that's exactly how he wanted it to turn out. Within the Dungeon. The Dungeon Beta Test Part 1 of 2. Basson first. Rimuru was surprised no one was drawing a map. It turned out they were indeed lost. Rimuru didn't want to make it too hard for them in the beginning or no one would want to try. They needed to make some progress. They could always die to be transported back. Also, you could use the bracelet to treat you as if you were dead and be transported back. In addition, the dryads could help. Rimuru wanted the challengers to take it seriously but instead Basson was getting irritated at his party members, and was convincing them that it was all a trick, which they believed, saying that it had to be illusion magic, after all there was a high magicule concentration. They couldn't get lost because they were using the right-hand rule religiously. Rimuru thought that wasn't enough to depend on in this huge maze. But then they fell through a trap door. Rimuru, confused, said to Ramiris that he really didn't think he had set up any trap doors on the first Floor. Under interrogation, Ramiris admitted to having put a fair number in. Rimuru scolded her, saying the purpose of this large a floor was to tire adventurers out, but these traps served as a short cut and conserved their energy. As Rimuru believed, traps are only traps if their effect matches their intended purpose. Rimuru agreed that if they wanted to make a fiendish labyrinth, then he could understand their reasoning. But he didn't want that at the very beginning, which was the whole reason he had given the job of designing of the topmost floors to himself. Over to Kaval’s (well, Eren’s) party. Rimuru remembered this group didn't have any sense of direction, so he thought the group would have a harder time. Yet they were being very prudent and cautious. They also seemed to be opening chests with good loot although many chests contained worthless items. Something about Ramiris's reaction made him suspicious and when he asked her about it, it was determined that Elen had brought a large number of cakes to Ramiris, and even the dryads. Little by little Eren was able to acquire a lot of info about the first floor. Well, Rimuru had made the floor easy, so despite it being a problem, for now it wasn't the end of the world. ****** About the chests. Rimuru had said that some could be found in smaller side rooms. although there might be traps. There are three types of chests, bronze, silver and gold. Only the bronze can be booby-trapped. Only bronze chests can be found on Floor 1. Silver could contain items up to Special level of, but most of them have potions, silver coins, and other useful stuff, including some of Kurobe’s lesser-quality swords up to Normal in quality. It wouldn't be a huge loss for Tempest if people were aiming at getting them. But the gold chests were the most desirable ones. These only appear in boss chambers, every 10 floors. These extra strong monsters guard the gold chests which stand before the stairway down to the next floor. There could even be Rare equipment in them. They also mentioned that it may take “several days” to conquer it due to its size. ****** Rimuru wasn't too upset about the cheating with Eren’s party, because they played it safe, they demonstrated the ”right” way to tackle the dungeon, and because they were good advertising. On to Masayuki's party. His party has hit every trap door as if aiming for them. Rimuru had given them hints but he hadn't known about the trap doors. He was currently on Floor 4, where monsters will begin to appear, at only 30 mins. in. Finally, Gaiye. He was rushing through, with Delta (the dryad) flying after him. Delta could “teleport” herself anywhere there was plant life, because she was a demi-spiritual being. But that would cut off the video. This was a huge effort for her. Gaiye moved without hesitation so he must have some magical location system activated. Raphael said it was the elemental magic spell Automap. This flashed exact positional data into one’s brain. If he could keep this activated continually, that was an indicator of him being good at magic. Rimuru had asked Fuze about Gaiye, and learned he was ranked A. At the rate he was going, he would get to Floor 5 in the remaining two hours. This was not expected at all. But Rimuru noticed an unusual sparkle in Gaiye’s eyes. They were also bloodshot, and he was grimacing. He wasn't slowing down, and when he hit Floor 3, he started to check the side rooms, and without hesitation raided the chests, which happened to be all silver. Raphael didn't know how he could be doing it, and Ramiris said, in an answer that was more complete than in the anime, while still vague, said she thought that he seemed to have an intense greed that enabled him to search out these chests. Rimuru actually kinda understood what Ramiris was getting at, though. He agreed there was something abnormal about Gaiye, especially taking into account his behavior towards Mjollmile, and he hoped he wouldn't have to deal with him in the future. This is significant. The Dungeon Beta Test Part 2 of 2. We are now 2 hrs. into the 3 hour test. Basson party. They found another small room with a chest. They worried it was another trap. So far they had found a paralysis-poison trap and a sleeping gas trap. They had also come across one of the weaker mimics in the labyrinth (I thought there were no mimics until further down.) Rimuru asked Ramiris what was in that particular chest, because Rimuru wanted the party to find something good soon because it was bad advertising otherwise and he was starting to feel sorry for them. It reminded him of the days when he had bought 10 loot crates in a mobile game and getting nothing but crap from them. Ramiris said the chamber had a monster and a silver chest so surely there would be something good in it. But she was stammering while she said it, and said, not that she was one to talk, she hadn't expected anyone to be this bad and reckless. So there was indeed a monster, a bear. It was kind of a strong monster for the first two floors, but there was a silver chest. The party seemed to be scared too much by it, though. The bear was C-ranked. Basson’s party was B. Now Soka's commentary, that the bear’s claws could easily kill you with one swipe, made Rimuru realize this wasn't a game, really. These pros, in spite of their bad showing so far that day, were making a deliberate decision to fight the bear only because there was sufficient reward on the other side. They were considering the stakes, because making the wrong choice could get them hurt or worse. Rimuru realized all his assurances that no one would die inside would take a while to sink in. Rimuru thought he might need to adjust the pitch he was making with the labyrinth. The approach the party took to the battle was for Basson, who was wearing only light armor that didn't cover his arms or sides, to attack first. His axe was decent for attack, but didn't offer much defense against a clawed foe, and mainly he used his circular shield to push the bear back. His party focused on staying safe while targeting the bear’s eyes and footing. Gomez the sorcerer eventually stopped the bear with a Windcutter attack. Soka and Mjollmile analyzed and praised the battle. They saw it was the work of veterans who took a textbook approach with safety in mind. But the battle, which had taken about 5 minutes, Rimuru found to be a problem. He wondered aloud why they had been so cautious. They were strong enough to be more aggressive. The responders tended to agree, but they concluded that the approach Basson was taking, while far outside of what they expected, was really quite normal. They thought it might take several days for people to get off the first floor even for some people. Now they thought they might have to consider that people would need to have food. Rimuru was surprised at the extent to which things were deviating from their plans. First, they didn't draw a map, then they recklessly opened chests, but then they were too cautious with fighting, even if their emphasis on safety was a sign of professionalism. Rimuru thought it might be better to heal injuries with portions and training to fight more efficiently. Basson’s party had members of various ranks, but overall they were B. With the right equipment Basson and Gomez were each probably B. It was unexpected that a party of six were having so much trouble on the second floor. The group approached the chest but they just swung open the lid. Why were they so thoughtless about it? They seemed like amateurs. In contrast, Eren's party looked much more sensible. Gido was a thief, so his job class helped them raid the chests while avoiding all traps. Maybe Basson’s party needed a thief-type. Parties like Basson's who were hunter-type that made their money from bodyguard work might be unaccustomed to situations like this. Maybe they needed a dedicated explorer-type, or a bigger party. But wait, maybe the labyrinth was more difficult than they thought. Basson's crew seemed low-level at first, but perhaps it was a temporary response to what they weren't used to, and they would speed up after this initial period. They’d have to reconsider. In the chest the team had found a sword, an actual nice one. The top prizes for these chests included high-grade potions, ancient gold coins, quality armor, etc. From Floor 2 down Rare items were possible, which was what they had just found. Ramiris said then that Veldora has adjusted the chests from Floor 2 down to give out more good items. Rimuru thought Veldora had rightly addressed a problem (amazingly), but even then, this unlucky party hadn't found anything until now. It helped everyone that they had found a Rare item. The group liked the sword, and Basson replaced his axe with the sword. They then encountered three lesser bats, which Basson quickly dispatched with one swing. The sword was made by one of Kurobe's apprentices, and it barely made it to Rare, but it might as well have been legendary to them. Even to Gaiye it would have been a good thing. Rimuru had heard it was very difficult for even an A-rank to accumulate a full set of Rare equipment. The team was moving more quickly, and they were gathering a large number of magic crystals from the monsters they killed. They thought they were coming out ahead now, and wanted to revisit the labyrinth. Now to Eren's group. They were still on Floor 1, which was really too cautious, but they had raided many chests. But now they suddenly changed their tactics. They decided to go for it. Soka's and Mjollmile's discussion revolved around what their goal was, as it would be tough to find chests by pure luck. They said silver chests could contain rare items, but it wasn't a guarantee. But gold chests? You would get a rare at least. Weren't they only in the boss chambers? Yes, but there existed exceptions. These were “area bosses” whom you would encounter at random. It's possible they would guard rooms with gold chests. Rimuru asked if Ramiris had told the team where the area bosses were. Once again, Ramiris confessed. Oh well, but let's not panic. Rimuru had mainly included them for fun, but he had put one on Floor 4. Once defeated they relocated randomly, but this one should still be there. Anyway, this was another thing that would be good advertising. He had placed several giant bats in a room, rated C-plus. Encountering them unexpectedly would be overwhelming, but if you knew about them you could probably deal with them. Only problem was if it looked to the audience like they knew it was there. But the crew took trapdoors to Floor 5, pretended to be injured so they could demonstrate the benefits of potions for Rimuru, then talked about looking for a place to rest all the way back to the bats’ lair. Rimuru praised their acting abilities. They approached the lair, let loose the bats, acted surprised, and attacked the bats. Kaval defended, and Eren used Icicle Shot. Eren has her Dryad’s Staff. (Was that a gift from Rimuru? I feel like I remember that.) To Rimuru and Ramiris it looked too easy. Was it really worth a gold chest? But really, Eren only found it easy because she cheated. So what was in the chest? It was guaranteed a minimum rare. It turned out to be a sword. In particular, a Tempest Sword. Everyone thought it was a rare, but it was actually a unique. Rimuru has given Gido a Tempest Dagger at some previous point, and like it, the sword had been forged by Kurobe from a Charybdis scale. Veldora had made such finds more common for today, and Eren’s party had found something usually only available 1% of the time. Then the party decided to head back. Masayuki's team: They were on the 9th floor now. They seemed to be utilizing trap doors, but Rimuru believed it wasn't on purpose. With over 50 minutes to go they reached the 10th floor. And the trapdoor took them near to the boss chamber. By this point in the labyrinth, monsters appeared in hallways, not just in rooms (although in the anime this team found one much sooner). Masayuki's friends took care of almost all the monsters they came across with one hit. And Rimuru's map was accurate except for the trapdoors, so they were still checking it. The Floor 10 Boss was a black spider (supposed to be the same type as Rimuru had encountered in the cave, but I think it looked different in the anime), ranked B. Jinrai killed it in one strike. Frustrating. They got a rare dagger, and added themselves to the floor’s save point. Then and there Rimuru decided to get rid of all the trapdoors. They returned to the entrance using their return whistle. Now Gaiye. Right after Masayuki’s party left the boss chamber, Gaiye entered it. Gaiye had not encountered even one trap or pitfall. A multi-member team couldn't hope to do that. He had done everything he could to score as many silver chests as possible along the way. He was about the worst beta tester he could have picked. However, because of the time constraints, he wasn't going to be able to encounter the boss. And he got nastier than in the anime (stands to reason that the longer rants in the LN provide time to get more than redundant). You could see and hear the greed as he got more insulting, demanding the boss be brought back. (I don't understand how he thinks his actions are going to make the boss come back. Saying he won't abide by the rules doesn't refill the chest.) Delta launched the spirit magic spell Thornbind, and she could cast it with zero delay. Gaiye seemed to think he could still win even when bound by the vines. But a dryad, even without battle experience, was a threat beyond Hazard level. (The threat levels, except Disaster and Calamity, are rarely explained. I keep forgetting which of those two are worse.) Apparently Calamity is next higher after Hazard, because the LN says once she gets a little training she would reach Calamity level, like Treyni and the others. The audience gasped seeing the gentle-looking Delta destroy Gaiye, after he had impressed the crowd in the battle tournament. (Remember there was a whole day of preliminaries he had to overcome to even reach the quarter-finals, that we didn't see.) So everyone saw what would happen if you broke the rules of the Maze-master, but if you abided by them, you were perfectly safe. Gaiye would be stripped of his loot, though. Despite the pain he was feeling, the punishment was really just a reset back to the original state. Rimuru might consider a ban from entering for a serious rule infraction, it was something they would consider as a measure once they saw how things went. Gaiye was one of the most distasteful people Rimuru had ever met. Mjollmile spoke further about the rules. It included no conflicts among adventurers, and always following the advice of the maze managers. They planned to distribute a book of rules, with accommodations for those who can't read. So now Rimuru considered they had learned a lot from Gaiye, despite his being a total jerk. They needed to figure a way to deal with high-level adventurers sprinting down to raid chests, so they wouldn’t lose a fortune. And he did provide an opportunity to demonstrate how the rules worked. The final group still in the dungeon, unlike in the anime, had been attacked by a skeleton archer who had shot two of them, definitely killing one. It was the result of their lack of caution. The others got rid of the skeleton. Rimuru thought that showing what was going on in the Dungeon on such a large screen could be done again with consenting teams, as the audience did seem to feel like they were experiencing it along with the participants. In a way it was almost like a horror movie. But time was almost up. Basson's party had actually been pretty entertaining, and despite their attitude before entering, they had concentrated on the task once within. They were actually good beta testers. They were currently upset about their comrades; they were clearly the type that didn't listen. Alpha calmly interrupted them to inform them of the end of the test, and while they glared at her, she forced their return whistles to activate. But as soon as they arrived on the surface their anger vanished, since their (formerly) dead comrade was now alive. The injured one was quickly fixed up with a potion. The group now was happy since (as they said) resurrection magic was rare. Despite Rimuru's opinion of their style, the important reaction was that of the audience. Having seen how Basson's party had fared from start to finish, they could now see that the Dungeon was safe. Rimuru's assessment of the test as advertising: success. In summary, each of the teams demonstrated something important, and gave an example of the types of people and approaches that people could take in the Dungeon. Having this test gave Rimuru a chance to make some changes to make the Dungeon be more attractive to the public and better for Tempest. A lot of the things that came up unexpectedly, and seemed like a problem, proved to illustrate something useful in the end. Afterwards, Rimuru offered some closing remarks. The gist was the same as in the anime. But, nothing is perfect. Veldora contacted Rimuru telepathically, wondering why no one had shown up at his chamber. Rimuru, seeing again that Veldora doesn't listen, yelled back, look, no one strong enough to reach you is going to appear for a while! Brief Evening Recap. Massive banquet. Yoshida and Shuna worked to produce the best dinner yet. Rimuru noticed more nobles chatting and laughing together. They seemed to have made friends, and the atmosphere was more comfortable than the first night. Veldora, Ramiris, and Milim, together with Carrion, Frey, and Middray, were also enjoying a fun night in the Labyrinth (on the 95th Floor, I think). Treyni and the elves were working hard to keep them entertained, and Rimuru was going to head over later, dessert in hand. (Tbh, I think dessert is the real currency in Tempest.) In town, merchants, adventurers, nearby farmers, and residents were eating and drinking in the bars and restaurants which were open for free, and they were singing, dancing and carousing all they wanted. Everyone was letting their guards down. It was kind of depressing knowing this was all going to come to an end. Tomorrow everyone would be back at their old jobs, but somehow knowing that made it all seem worth it. He didn't feel alone in this feeling, but everyone was still having fun. Rimuru supposed this was what happiness is. And he hoped this peace would last a long time. The next day, the festival was over. The highways had been full since morning. The security team, led by Rigur in place of Gobta, has been busy since before sunrise. Rimuru commented that Rigur probably wanted to sleep past noon. Rigur cheerfully responded that you couldn't work security if you let the drink consume you. It seemed Rigur was serious about his job. You could see he was Rigurd's son. Rigur never complained about anything, so everything was going smoothly. The highway was wide enough that as long as a wagon didn't block the road, things would keep moving. Some had decided to stay in town a few more days to avoid the crowds. Now Rimuru had his own work. They had to pay out those gold coins. In general, in this episode, I think they got most of the right feelings that will affect events in the future, even if events aren’t exactly the same as in the LN.

Topic 1. The Labyrinth Layout The labyrinth has a lot of other features, specific layout plans, and purposes that we know of at this point. There will be alterations, in other words. How quickly could someone conquer the dungeon? Depends not only on their strength, but also on the need for rest, food, etc. How would people choose to approach the dungeon? If the layout varies, people might choose to get to a rest or save point as soon as possible. Originally, Rimuru started to worry that the maze is too hard, while Veldora and Ramiris dismiss that idea, so Rimuru plows onward. About the dragons will consume the excess magicules to create their terrain effects and keep the myriads of spawned monsters from getting out of control. Then it was time to place the treasure chests. (As planned by Rimuru, originally.) Floor 1: The top floor was kind of a demo, even for beginners. The floor was about 250 meters on a side. It was hard to get lost, the corridors were wide, and there were a lot of low level monsters. The drops would, Rimuru hoped, make it worth the adventurers’ time. Rimuru intended to buy these drops from them, and kind of an imitation guild post. He thought maybe he could talk with Yuuki about establishing a real Guild post there. (No matter what Yuuki's intentions were, the Guild is still the Guild.) Actually, I think he already asked him. Floors 2-5: Basically the same, except the layouts get a little trickier. Floor 6: Starts to get tough. Traps begin here. Floor 9: Traps begin to get vicious. But Rimuru was still trying not to discourage anyone, at least not too quickly. Floor 10: Boss room with a kind of strong monster. Takes up the entire floor. Can't go on without defeating it. Initially, Rimuru didn't know what to put here given that for some reason, monsters weren't spawning at all. Raphael informed them that even with his aura hidden, monsters didn't want to come anywhere near Veldora. It was too much for them to withstand. Somehow they solved this problem, and they decided to place a B-level monster there, with one of Ramiris's collars. Behind the monster was a save point and a stairway down. And a treasure chest. No trap on it. They adjust the rates of drop of certain weapons or armor. Floors 11-19: There would be hidden rooms and chest traps. Floor 20. Mimic chests debut. But equipment like swords and armor might start absorbing magicules to make them magical, a benefit. They would be selling return whistles, so no point in installing stands to buy back or store equipment on floors with save points. Floor 25 and other mid-level, multiple of 5 floors: Safe zones. How this would work: Storage, healing potions at marked-up prices, and simple food would be offered. Doors would connect to a single zone. They would see how many people would rather leave the labyrinth to take a break. He decided to consider pricing the return whistles so people wouldn't overuse this option. This was the initial arrangement, but even before opening other changes occurred. Raphael rather exasperatedly said that the dungeon being described as vicious seemed too tepid a word. Rimuru pretended not to hear. Now the monsters spawned. Maybe a bit too many. Bosses were only worked out to Floor 30. Rimuru gets the idea to put the bovoid and equinoid as bosses for Floors 40 or 50. Rimuru didn't want a lot of traps until then. So Rimuru laid out the traps up to Floor 50 personally. You needed to buy a Resurrection Bracelet to enter. Floors 51-60: Ramiris in charge of layout. Floors 61-70: Veldora Floors 96-99: Milim Floor 95: Beastman camp; treants and dryads; (Very expensive) lodgings for rest (for the future). Safe zone, rest area. Elves. Rimuru’s dream of his very own Elf VIP room. Weapon/armor (including exclusive) shop. This floor would become a beautiful forested oasis city: Labyrinth City. Doors returning to upper floors and a door going down. Floors 91-94: Floor 91: Storage for metal ore. Floor 92: Plant for producing magisteel. Floor 93: Garden. Floor 94: Another facility to produce honey. (Not sure where the first one is.) So, the floors the dragons will go on will be just before Veldora: 99: Fire. Fire Dragon. 98: Ice. Frost Dragon. 97: Lightning. Wind Dragon. 96: Earthquake. Earth Dragon. Door straight from Floor 90 to 95 and free passage between Floors 91-95. Again, there would be alterations made later.
