Notice how much more roughed up looking the Graf was compared to the last scene he was in when he went down from a that blood strike to his torso. Lugner said "all that awaits is further torture" if he doesn't cooperate...so that pretty much implies what has been happening up to that point. Since Lugner needs the towns magic barrier removed, he can't afford to accidentally kill the Graf while torturing him. So that was likely a break to allow the Graf some measure of rest while hopefully breaking him mentally.

Round one, Frieren easily kills Draht, Round two Stark and Fern rescue Ganat, and Fern blows off Lugner's arm. Round three is going to ramp up what's happened so far, get settled in for a fight.

I haven't found any information regarding the length or anything, but the Director for this episode (who was also the Director for Episode 2) will apparently become the main Director for the second season. That's about all the information officially available for it.

2025-07-31 12:57:16 +0000 UTCSo there are probably better places to get this as i do not speak Japanese but the name of the Manga in Japanese is Sousou no Frieren. So the end there where Lugner is talking was a name drop. "Sousou" specifically has a double meaning. My understanding is that it means to send the departed off as in a funeral but it can also mean more menacingly to send someone to the grave.
