It's important to remember that what the characters believe, which is slowly revealed, isn't necessarily the truth, or what the show is trying to convey to the viewer. So keeping track of details is important, but it can lead to a lot of debates if you aren't being careful, because watchers fail to distinguish between speculation and what is confirmed. And sometimes the speculation is more true that what they seem to say definitively.

What a twist of fate".

2025-09-08 04:12:33 +0000 UTCI have taken to watching each episode at least 3 times. Once to just enjoy the episode and twice to try and catch all the subplots. And in some episodes there is so many you almost need to write them down to keep them straight!

2025-09-08 03:43:07 +0000 UTCGet used to the revelations at the end of episodes with this series. Yes, the man who raised MaoMao was once the head physician of the rear palace. Yes he is a eunuch. And no he isn't her real father. Bit of a spoiler there. She was born in the Verdigris House. It gets a bit .... complicated. The women of the Verdigris House are pretty much her family. Even the old Madam, the Tough Old Lady. The identity of both her mother and father will be revealed in later episodes. As will her very real familial connection with the man she calls her dad. Again it gets a bit ..... complicated. And in a very real, and very sad, way she is sort of taking care of Lishu - The Virtuous Consort, better than her ladies in waiting are taking care of their lady. The story lines of this series get complicated and really intertwined. Things that seemed only minor in early episodes are revealed as really important in the later episodes, and in some cases in the second season as well. It is a really well written series. And the art! OMG! The attention to details is just unbelievable!
