I didn't notice that when we were watching it but that is freaking awesome. This show does such a good job with little things like that. I love the dichotomy of Frieren and Serie. It makes me wonder what's going to happen when Frieren and Fern pass the 1st class mage exams. What spell will they choose haha.

Serie is looking back and wants no change to happen, the rise of human magic and its spread she hates. Frieren looking into the sun rise (the spread of humanities magic) is something Frieren is looking forward to seeing.
