They released this to avoid what happened with salaar. They released the movie introducing so many characters all at once and than it became so hard to keep track of who is who and how they relate to the story. So the plan with this series is estblish the ground work before you go watch the movie, so you don’t feel like you had hard time understanding the storyline connecting with the characters.
Spolier:- HINT OF SRK’s character in movie is showed in 1st episode :)

Please explain. Is this something they feel the Indian audience needs to help with sci-fi dystopian tropes? Or is there another reason? Is it necessary to watch these before the film? I Don't understand why they would want something other than the film, seen in cinemas on the big screen to reveal the world and characters. I have no intention of watching these because I want the theater experience to reveal everything, but I am seeing comments online that you won't understand the world without this prelude. This feels like a let down, or are they trying to lower expectations for the film? I just don't understand the logic of this. Will I be totally confused by the film if I don't watch these?

Animated preludes to the movie. To estabilish the world and the characters.

The shows are directly related to the movie… they are animated prequels to give background to the characters and the world
Just watched both episodes as well, would make for great quick watchalongs. Even if you guys don’t do a watchalong, would be worth it to watch them before kalki release either way
