Great watch along . Thanks guys . But I have small criticism towards you guys in how you observe / or Jump to conclusions on how a film is received by audience based on social media criticism. the social media criticism you see on twitter and YouTube dont always reflect the reality. Rayaan is a super hit if not blockbuster , and maryan did fairly well at its release. I remember you guys had the same confusion for Vijay’s Leo but it’s a massive success despite its flaws . Please don’t get carried away with selective reviews . Your conclusions can sound condescending towards general audiences and appears to be underestimating their taste .

I loved the movie, and for me this is easily one of the best movies that’s come out in recent times and will be held as a masterpiece in the years to come. The acting, action sequences, lighting, editing and AR’s BGM all show that when there is a good director at the helm, he gets the best out of the relevant sectors working in the movie.

Korbin's point was right......the reason for brothers to turn against dhanush did not make sense for atleast with my friends who watched the movie. But i thought they were showing dhanush's brothers were loose ends since start of the movie and it worked for me well.

I never said i didn't like the movie. I said that's something I personally didn't like and my only gripe. I liked the movie overall but would ha e liked it more if it's someone we did not have preconceived notion about.

I was thoroughly enjoying and excited until that moment. After that I hated the movie as I felt everything looked stupid😁.

As others have said above, this movie is a big box-office success. Some people did have problem with siblings killing each other but nevertheless paying public liked the movie in theatres. Great Movie. Thankful to OSR for catalyzing my interest in non-hindi cinema

I’m so sorry but how is this reason not to like the movie? He is just playing a character and if anything he had great screen space in this movie, in fact the character was written for Dhanush. Big stars play villain. Vijay Sethupathi plays villain and gets killed by the hero but people like it.

Let me tell you one reason I didn’t like something about it.. some people may think the same. The middle brother is a star in telugu cinema with over 25 films as "hero". I'm tamil so I've seen him only In Maanagaram and I still found it hard to see someone I liked get hacked cos he didn't start off as a villian when the movie began. If they had some random actor for the brother I wouldn't have minded him getting nailed like that. It's like they had a Zac Efron or miles teller just to have them get shot at in the end of the movie. That's my only gripe

Raayan did extremely well at the box office. It’s it the highest grossing Tamil film in 2024 so far. Highest collection for Dhanush. Some people are just not liking the second half as they didn’t like the brothers being betrayers, they apparently would have rather had Dhanush and his brothers vs Sethu. I personally preferred the twist, it was completely unexpected second half. Also I didn’t know till the very end if the brothers will reunite or not! It was very unpredictable and great work by Dhanush. 10/10 for me.

Yup, this was a great movie. I liked that we weren't told certain things explicitly, especially about the past... leaves room for a nice Raayan prequel lol, would love to see the younger brothers again... fascinating characters. Also the brothers didn't know what happened to Durga plus Raayan and Durga probably thought the brothers betrayed Sekar as well. It's more realistic and ultimately more tragic this way. I agree about the flashback, if they had shown rather than told us about the building resentment the younger brothers had towards Raayan, it would have had more of an emotional punch. But still an awesome movie and a great second directorial venture for Dhanush!

Loved this! Watching it for the 3rd time now with you guys… i think major gripe for the film which i heard was the brothers betrayal… the problem is with the template brother movies from forever where the younger brothers/sisters have always been grateful for the elder brother for sacrificing and shouldering the burden of the family… there is no gray but black or white… this in the moment fuckup by both brothers was brilliant… they truly never understood Raayan… nor Durga for that matter… thats my take!

Raayan was a huge commercial blockbuster. One of the highest crossing movies of the year too. But it did receive mixed responses

I love it how Dhanush always picks elevated scripts 🙌. He might star along side Robert Downey Jnr in Doomsday

Most of the criticisms were on the brothers betraying did not make any sense for what has been established on their characters, it just felt as a forced twist. Even I felt the same, there was no strong motive for their betrayal otherwise on technical aspects its good and engaging throughout.
