This is the fabian socialist mindset most urban Indians grow up with. If something is getting attention, that's bad because it overshadows other things? What sort of logic is this? When you did not have the IPL until 2008, was football or hockey better and bigger before advertising & commercial money came in? Chess, for example is also growing very rapidly because the cricket board actually supports it which no one seems to care about. Its the zero-sum fallacy, where if there's a wealthy person - the assumption is others are poor because he's rich. Without any consideration to the revenue and employment generated by them.
