That Shield that attacked Motoyasu after Raphtalia and Naofumi used there Combo Skill is the Soul Eater Shield. He unlocked it after he absorbed Material from the Soul Eater that they defeated in the 3rd Wave. He is a bit more Powerful as the Chimera Viper Shield he uses all the Time ( The Shield with the Snake Heads) but in normal Combat the Viper Shield is more effective thx to the Couterattack with the Poison Fangs. As it was explained mostly in the Light Novels, Heroes have another Stat called SP (Skill Points) that they need to use there Respective Legendary Weapons Skills. If they dont have any Points left, they cant use Skills ( Thats why there exist for Heroes in that World a Special Potion that can fill up there SPs, almost like a Mana Potion, but with the Difference that anyone else who isnt a Hero drinks this SP Potion dont feel any Effect for anything, its in a Way a Bottle with Water for them) But Naofumis Soul Eater Shield can for whatever Reason steal other Heroes SP Points and add it to his own Points. The only Drawback is that its listed as Counterattack and the others need to attack him ( same with other Shields that have a Counterattack, like the Chimera Viper Shield or the Shield of Wrath and some others)

While small details like these are nice, they cost the animation studios too much money and showtime to include.

Motoyasu was a lot more agressive in the novels, he was relentlessly attacking Naofumi, to some extent even ignoring if his skills hit Raphtalia, Filo, and Melty (he wasn't trying to hit them, but if he thought the attack would hit Naofumi he didn't care all that much is someone else got caught in it). Also, for the first time in forever, Malty didn't seem like she was just trying to make Naofumi's life more difficult, she seemed like she actually believed the story about Ren and Itsuki dying to the T-Rex herself, and as far as I remember, she didn't accuse him of it with a smirk. Motoyasu's combo skill with his teammates, the Flare Wind Lance thingy, was absolutely not brushed over in the novels. In fact, it dealt severe damage to him, and that made him wonder if it was Fitoria's armor upgrade that had saved his life (In the novels, it was mentioned that when she upgraded his barbarian armor, it also gained Wind Resistance (Strong) and Fire Resistance (Strong)). Somewhere along the fight, Naofumi also managed to poison Motoyasu with his Chimera Viper Shield, in responce to which Motoyasu produced an anti-venom from his spear, something that Naofumi thought was odd, since the last thing he expected the spear hero to to would be producing healing ointments. On another note, most of the fight was spent with Naofumi and Filo (think) holding off Motoyasu and his party, while Raphtalia and Melty prevented soldiers from getting in from the outside of the cage.
