Adaption Notes Episode 6 ---In the light novel, Yui was the one who explained the concept of «Top-Down AI» and «Bottom-Up AI» during Asuna's, Leafa's and Sinon's meeting in ALfheim Online. -Because of this, Asuna already understood the basic concept when Seijirou brought it up. ---Details on how the Rath staff who raised the original eight Artificial Fluctlights exited the Underworld were omitted. ---Details regarding mankind's present disposition towards war and the current political climate, to explain why AI's designed for military purposes have become increasingly necessary, were omitted. ---Details on how the memory blocking procedure works were omitted. ---Details regarding Kirito's second childhood in the Underworld were omitted. ---Details regarding possible side-effects from Kirito spending years in the Underworld were omitted. ---The scene where Asuna explains the situation to Leafa, Sinon, Lisbeth and Silica in Alfheim Online was anime original content. ---In the light novel, when Rinko confronted Akihiko following the outbreak of the SAO Incident, she was carrying a gun rather than of the knife. ---The scene of Akihiko's and Rinko's first meeting and growing relationship was anime original content. ---The scene where Rinko sees Akihiko in a dream was anime original content.

Adaption Notes Episode 5 ---Laughing Coffin raid flashbacks were anime original scenes. ---The entire scene of Kazuto being loaded in an ambulance and his heart stopping was omitted. ---In the light novel, Asuna did not notify Suguha and Midori until after Kazuto's operation was over. ---Therefore, the scene of Asuna, Suguha and Midori at the hospital was anime original content. ---The scene of Seijirou convincing Midori to place Kazuto under his jurisdiction and supposedly transfer him to a military hospital was anime original content. ---In the light novel, Lisbeth and Silica were not present at Asuna's, Leafa's and Sinon's meeting in ALfheim Online. ---In the light novel, Asuna, Leafa and Sinon quickly deduced Kirito was at the Ocean Turtle from information previously given to them by him at the Dicey Cafe and news reports on the facility. ---Therefore, the scenes where Asuna, Suguha and Ryoutarou search the harbor while Shino, Rika and Keiko check Rath's facility in Tokyo was anime original content. ---In the Light Novel, Yui also explained the concept of «Top-Down AI» and «Bottom-Up AI» at Asuna, Leafa and Sinon's meeting, using herself as an example of «Top-Down AI». ---The scene of Rinko's and Akihiko's past relationship was anime original content. ---The scene of Rinko receiving Asuna's E-Mail was anime original content.

---The scene of Eugeo overcoming his fear to come to Kirito's aid was anime-original. ---In the novel, Eugeo attempted to rise to his feet after being struck by Ugachi, despite having suffered a lethal injury. ---The sequence of events in Kirito's final confrontation with Ugachi was different from the novel. In the novel, Kirito severed Ugachi's other arm before the goblin remarked about Kirito being an Ium. At that point, Kirito was able to sever the goblin's head with Sonic Leap with little resistance. ---In the novel, a goblin named Aburi responded to Kirito's challenge after Ugachi's death; however, Kirito disposed of the goblin with another Sonic Leap before it could even finish its taunt. ---In the novel, when Kirito checked Eugeo's status window, his Durability was decreasing at a rate of one point every two seconds. This decrease was accelerated in the anime for dramatic effect. ---During the scene where Kirito came to Selka, he awoke her by shaking her shoulders, rather than calling her name from a distance, in the novel. Additionally, Selka did not immediately recognise the boy and attempted to push him aside due to mistaking him for a goblin. ---In the novel, Kirito lifted Selka to bring her to Eugeo when the girl was about to begin to weep in ---The mention regarding the villagers' reactions upon Kirito, Eugeo and Selka's return, as well as their shock upon seeing Ugachi's severed head, was omitted. ---The scene where Kirito and Eugeo ran away from the falling Gigas Cedar's trunk, as well as Kirito falling down in the process and losing 50 Durability, was omitted.

Adaption Notes, Episode 4 ---In the novel, Ugachi attempted to warn the other goblins to protect the fires when he noticed what Eugeo and Kirito were planning. ---After the fires were doused, the goblins reacted to Eugeo's glowing grass before Kirito managed to provide him with a sword in the novel. Additionally, Kirito, rather than Eugeo, was the one who realised that the goblins disliked the glowing grass and he gave Eugeo a sword directly to his hands while the goblins were distracted, before instructing the boy on their further course of action. ---In the novel, Kirito did not encounter any goblin henchmen when he charged towards Ugachi after retrieving a sword. Additionally, Ugachi was attempting to protect his eyes from the light of Eugeo's grass at that moment. ---The choreography of the battle between Kirito and Ugachi did not follow the description of the novel. Kirito was unable to pierce through the goblin's armour and only barely managed to avoid some of Ugachi's attacks. ---Kirito was unaware of the existence of Sword Skills in Underworld before his battle with Ugachi. Instead, he accidentally triggered one while subconsciously attempting to reproduce the movements of the skill manually in an attempt to chain multiple attacks to overpower the goblin. ---Kirito's musings about pain after suffering his first injury from Ugachi were greatly simplified in the anime. ---During the fight between Kirito and Ugachi, the sequence of events from Kirito rising to his feet after being injured by the goblin until he was kicked to the ground again were anime-original. In the novel, Kirito was unable to rise to his feet until Eugeo intervened, due to being paralysed by fear.

I know we are in the territory of pure science fiction with their explanation of Fluctlights and bottom-up AIs but damn I found the explanation interesting of how they are creating bottom-up AIs. Also you are definitely not the only one who got played by Asuna's disguise. I definitely was surprised as well after hearing the English she spoke outside Ocean Turtle xD. I could've probably mentioned this in the last SAO reaction as well but I find it really fun to have your fantasy world's magic system actually be just code language. I think this was the first show that did it so when they first said "system call" inside the game as kids, that got my theory brain rumbling quite a bit. Since this show I've seen only one other show that has done this and they did something really cool with it. So this kind of "magic system" is something that I really really like xD.
