And our best boy is makes his return! Didn't stay dead for long xD First off, just pointing out a detail that was left out in the anime, but Kanbaru left town with Higasa to visit an university in preparation for her graduation. Checking her options out, of course; . And making a point on why this arc comes before Koi: Kaiki's arc would then go full circle: First we see him as an antagonist in Nise; then we would meet Hana's Kaiki, which still looks bad to us, but at the same time shows us he is a person that, as he said himself, isn't perceived the same way when looked from other angles; and finally we would see him acting on others behalf and have part of his backstory be explained by Ononoki during Koi, showing us his complexity as a character and his good side; Going from this order, I don't think it was ever intended for the reader to think he really died in Koi. Personally, I think both orders are fine, but I prefer Hana in anime order, just so you can have the nice "by the way, I'm alive" plot twist, since no context is really lost by moving it arround. . Also, now we know Kaiki's relationship with Tooe and can understand his obsession with putting car accidents into his narratives. It just kind of shows how he was never able to fully leave her death behind, even though he never talks about it, not even in his thoughts, so I can only assume it's some trauma deep down his subconscious. It even fits on his last money monologue to Sengoku, as his loss of something so special and irreplacable made him hate irreplacable things.

well, he never said he died, did he? xD he could have just passed out

Best girl is back from the dead! When Kaiki says that his memory of Gaen Toue is not worth a cent, I take it to mean that his memory of her is irreplaceable, that it transcends money. Because he specifically calls out that he loves money because it can replace so many things, but apparently not his memories of Toue since it isn't worth a cent.

Remember what Kaiki said at the beginnig of Koimonogatari "Be mindful of what is true and what is a lie. In other words, always doubt yourself. Harbor an inner devil's advocate as you read along." And "Now then, here's a tale where lies and truth interwine, weaving things that did and didn't happen." so basically he said that Koimonogatari will have lies and truth and his death was apparently a lie.
