With Mayoi's "death" being literally on the day before this, one can only imagine how weird Araragi must feel by being entangled with the lost cow again. It's probably very depressing.
Also, the way Kanbaru used to "defeat" the Snail was very similar to the one used back in Bake; back then, they used the _new_ roads to avoid the tracks the ghost knew, this time they also avoid the oddity's tracks, but in a Kagenui kind of way xD, a solution out of the box that came naturally to the bonehead Suruga but the self-deprecating Koyomi couldn't think of.
And just for contextualization, back in Neko Shiro, we saw the cat offered to take Shinobu to the cram school, since she didn't have enough powers to fly, due to being too far from Araragi and having their pairing severed, but when they got there, the school had already been burned down, so Shinobu's fight alongside Ononoki and Black Hanekawa against the Monkey she speaks about at the end there happened while Araragi and Kanbaru were lost.
I already can't wait for the next few episodes!
