Araragi just loves forgetting stuff, huh? His own woodcraft project, then forgeting about an event when told to by Hitagi... And count me surprised once again, you got the gist of the season on the first episode, and right at the beginning! Yes each episode takes place at a different point in time. Koyomimonogatari, Calendar Story, 12 episodes, one for each month of the past year until it reaches current events. It is really fun trying to pinpoint where each of those fit in the arcs we've seen so far, some might even give us some more background or info on said arcs. By the way, "The epilogue, or maybe, the punch line of this story" is Araragi's catchphrase at the end of every story when telling us how things concluded. Some seasons of the anime just brushed it over and skipped it completely, but in the books the sentence is there at the end of every single arc, except for Kizu, which ends with the most bittersweet Monologue Araragi could give us.
