After countless arcs of killing himself for the sake of others, our boy finally fights for himself! The theme of only you being able save yourself continues to the very end. Knowing about the Darkness and having the Gaen's legacy flow into him through the First weren't the only things that culminated in the creation of Ougi, in doing that Araragi was also copying Hanekawa, someone well known for cutting off parts of her heart so she can stay forever pure. In the books, Gaen said she could see it happening to Koyomi, someone who looks up to Tsubasa as a sort of mentor. That's why she prepared the sword reforging all the way back in August, because she expected a being the sorts of Ougi to appear. Ougi derives from the First, just like Gaen forged Kokorowatari from his armor, Koyomi forged Ougi from his flesh, and as such, she is made of and has all the abilities from all the oddities of the city. The abandoned cram school they were at wasn't a "ghost of a building" as Ougi claimed, it was fully made and built by Ougi with her "create matter" ability, the same Shinobu has. Koyomi askes her if she created it the same way she did Year 1, Class 3 (from Ougi Formula), but she explains the method was a little different, she had to put more into the first one, this right now was a rush job, not much care has been put into the details, so you could find rough edges all over the place. That's why the Darkness was destroying so much of the school, because it was all part of Ougi. By the way, about Gaen Tōe's Rainy Devil, the book uses much more time to explain what her experience was. We know she was a very stric person, ‘If you can’t become medicine, then make yourself into poison. Or else you’re nothing but plain water’ she would often say things like that. Well, all sorts of objects somehow went missing around her. Games, books, snacks, pagers. Simply put, items that weren’t necessary, but desired, objects that interfered with getting things done. They weren’t getting lost, but being thrown away. The culprit was none other than Tōe herself. Her heart, ever strict on herself, made up a Darkness that disallowed anything that wasn’t right. She made it up to repress her adolescent, girlish feelings of wanting to play, fostered this aberration herself. This unidentified aberration that Tōe Gaen made up embodied her self-restraint and it would end up consuming even her friends and boyfriend had she not taken care of it and revealed its identity. Just like Ougi was doing to Araragi. Kaiki, Nadeko, Sodachi, Ononoki, Hanekawa, Tsukihi, all of them were target by Ougi to break their relationship to Koyomi in one way or another. Like he said in December, during the post-credits scene of the Shinobu Time arc, he felt like everyone was leaving him behind. The girl at the end was a random first year, the reason why she seems familiar is because Shaft used a similar model for her as the one they use for Kanbaru's friend, Higasa. About the movie/TV version for Zoku, pick whichever one you want, they are exactly the same :) Also, the institution that Hanekawa sold her brains off to is revealed in the short story "And Then", released in the second Kizumonogatari Movie Visual Book. It won't be adapted to anime, as it's only a short story, but if anyone has any intention of reading them, then skip the rest of this paragraph ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alright, so said "institution" was Dramaturgy's specialist group. It was cut in the movies, but in the Kizu books Dramaturgy tried scouting Araragi to work with him and his chain of specialists, just like the Gaen Network, and he said no, but when Hanekawa started her journey around the world, they crossed paths and became partners. A vampire and a human, just like Shinobu and Araragi (minus the "link" part). During her trip she was basically training as a specialist and Dramaturgy really respects her as a leader for his group. It was during that time that she found a way to go to Antarctica and find Oshino. Her brains were "sold off" to Dramaturgy to help in his oddity hunting endeavors.

I'm fine with either the Movie or the TV version for Zoku Owarimonogatari. I've seen both versions and they both work. So just go with whichever you want~
