Some more photos from my Hiroshima trip🌸 Day 3 was probably my favourite day of the trip!! The drive this day was wild though. Our destination was Senkoji Temple for the annual cherry blossom festival, and it is located on the top of a very high hill. Half way up the traffic started to get really crowded and it ended up taking us 3 hours to drive up the hill, haha. Turns out the parking lot was full and everyone was just waiting for someone to go home so they could get a spot. We actually got quite lucky because there was a second parking spot for 3 cars about 3/4 of the way up the hill and it just happened that someone was leaving right as we got there! Did have to hike a bit to get up to the temple but it wasn't too bad.
The view from the top of the hill was amazing 🌊 You could see the bright blue waters of the Seto Inland Sea below and all the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. There were rows of festival food stalls lining the path up to the temple. I don't normally eat dairy but they had my favourite ice cream flavour which I never see in Japan so I had to get one😭 Orange and vanilla! If you have creamsicles where you live, it tasted just like that🍊🍦
I'm so glad Mark knew about this location, it was so neat having the view of the sea, the temple, and the cherry blossoms all at once. Definitely one to add to your bucket list if you're in the Hiroshima area!
