no, he's not dead

I will put this here real quick before I head out. When the patreon was put up it was already stated prior that he had enough money to run the site that the program was put on. He put it here because people requested it of him to do as such so they could throw money his way for the sake of appreciation on the project. However, in the current state of lack of communication and potential legal trouble of his patreon not being addressed by him at all after he frequently spoke rather often prior. I think it is safe to say that something has happened that caused him to either be unable to access his computer or resources. Or he has passed. So trust me, he isn't scamming anyone. We're just letting our money go into a sink though at this point. Its time to pull out everyone. The risk that this project may never be heard from again is too high, you don't want your money being sent to a safe with no owner to collect and make use of. You're not likely to get it back.

The days go along. but the enjoyment, even if prior, was one to remember. An experience for free. keep rockin brother. now or later, the experience you brought and will bring ahead at any point was worth the ride so far. There is no rush. Only amazing work. And hopefully not stress. But you get the gist of course.

Can We Get 4Kids Characters, Like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, etc?

They don't add voices of their own I think. You have to send them the voicefiles and a txt/etc. which tells the computer which file contains which sentences. I think it was something like that

$10K a month to keep the site/servers running?! Good lord, what kind of crazy grant did you get for this? I mean, it's truly insane how much better and more accessible this feels than something like Lyrebird, but is this really worth the cost in time or mental/financial resources? On a related-but-also-not note, I can't help but feel that "this is a test :)" is a weird sort-of meta comment. It's like, we the userbase are the ones being tested somehow, making this just as much of a damning social research project as it is a technological one. If so (as implied by the "damning" bit), I cannot help suspecting we are failing miserably in so many ways... ...here's hoping that feeling is nothing more than hyperbolic overanalysis. EDIT: You know, on reflection, I probably just don't understand how research grants work in either amounts distributed or what qualifies for them in the first place. Not to mention MIT researchers must be like, a gold standard in accreditable grant recipients. All I know is this project continues to baffle me in how it endures/evolves despite...well...us, the users. >_>;

How hard would it be to adapt this from talking speech to singing?

I like the new design. Seems easy to use and useful. My only suggestion is that you put a button to show/hide instructions right above the generate button because, from what I've seen, once you click generate, it hides the instructions. This will doubtlessly lead to more people not reading the instructions. Because people just click buttons without reading.

The website has been really fun to use. Hope it comes back up & better than ever

Can we expect the source code to be released when your paper gets published? (Says 'Coming 202X' on the website) If you do release it, things related to that would be good as Patreon perks, at least for the somewhat more technically inclined among us. You would probably have to release some version of the model with the paper, but I'd pay at a higher tier to get updates of it, and to be able to download the character data. I use an implementation of SV2TTS to try and do character voices for D&D sessions, but for this reason I like to be able to load up voices of regular people (currently from LibriSpeech library) and assign them to an NPC. The voices of well-known cartoon characters are great for meme creators but not great for someone trying to do, say, a one-man radio drama.

Patron priority could be a good way to encourage membership and cashflow. I'd pay more if it meant I got better access, but I'm fine with just supporting this kickass project any way I can :)
