Do I enable Charge Up-Front?
Added 2018-07-02 09:29:00 +0000 UTCCharge Up-Front is a permanent feature that can be enabled on a Patreon. What it does is charges a Patreon when they make their pledge, so that the Patreon has more security in their income. It makes it impossible for people to pledge, wait for the billing cycle to draw near, and then unpledge. Since the people most affected are you, the readers, I leave this decision entirely in your hands. Remember, this decision is permanent, and can't be undone, so choose wisely.
Pros: You can get rewards sooner, such as the 15 and 20 dollar tiers or higher. If you increase your pledge or pledge to one of those tiers, it will be charged instantly and I will be notified so that I can send those out.
Cons: This can be a doozy if overlooked. If you pledge near the end of the month, you will be charged TWICE. Once for when you pledge, and another time once the cycle renews if you haven't edited your pledge by then.
Note, this only applies to new Patrons. There will be no additional charges made for existing patrons. For those new patrons that are accidentally double charged, I will do my best to refund the initial charge on request so that you are only charged once.
