Sorry these last number of chapters have all taken longer than I expected. Very tough stretches in both AoC and CoP.
Speaking of which — this is the CoP year 1 finale! It’s the most nervous I’ve been over a chapter in a very long time, mostly because more people took the bait last chapter than I expected. Here’s hoping you all enjoy it.
This next week will be PoP focused and, by its end, I hope to have gotten through the winter holidays.

The thing is, the HP books were written as novels, whereas this is a continued narrative. Almost one book with two acts.

2022-04-18 04:40:22 +0000 UTCThis ending point was very intentional. I don’t feel like words need to be wasted on meeting with the aurors, exams, and the like. There will be summaries of those and other relevant events in the chapters to come.

2022-04-18 04:39:52 +0000 UTCTBH, if we compare this chapter with how the original HP books were written, this feels more like the penultimate chapter, rather than the last. Sure, the confrontation, which we all wanted to see, has occurred and been resolved. Ms. Just-As-Planned getting caught flat-flooted again was amusing to read, too. But so much more is left - the meeting with the Aurors, reactions of the school to Malfoy being exposed, not to mention the scoundrel's own family. I don't think we've heard anything from Acturus either - after all of Harry's lofty promises to keep Dorea safe. Also, I'd say this version of Riddle seems to share her canon counterpart's belief of death being the worst fate that can be inflicted on another. What she did to Malfoy could be considered merciful, compared to what Harry had envisaged for him - a slow, agonizing end, under the tender care of the Dementors in Chateau Azkaban.

2022-04-18 03:02:13 +0000 UTCIt’s a good ending. Harry’s insistence on the Dumbledore school of though regarding forgiveness and non lethality is beginning to grate though. I can fully understand why he still subscribed to that thought seeing as he hasn’t discovered OTL Dumbles plans for his final show down with Voldemort which would seriously damage their relationship. I like how at the core he remains the same loyal person but as the sorting hat said he would thrive in Slytherin and it’s nice to see those traits surfacing over the last 20 or so chapters. I’m hoping to see that continue and Harry become more flexible, pragmatic and ruthless. Although hopefully not cringe inducing like many ‘Grey/Dark’ Harrys.
