There will be an announcement posted on here tomorrow — nothing major, just an FYI about my plans for this week.

Btw I get everyone being concerned but take a deep breath and trust the writer. After all this time I think that trust is well earned! The mystery and unexpected twists is half the fun of a story like this.

I don’t trust you anymore! How could you hurt me like this? That being said I loved the chapter hahaha! I am shocked and hurt but also so baffled at what Harry is going to do next, our guy has been through so much! I kept expecting some miracle to happen and save them. Didn’t Dumbledore have a Phoenix? But maybe that was only in his old age. I am fascinated by how Emily threw herself into the fray! Surely she knew it was a bad idea just as Harry did when Charlus went charging in. Poor Charlus, he’s indirectly to blame for Britain’s greatest champion dying horribly. I can only hope that from these ashes the kids stand together stronger than before. I think Emily has proved herself to be a real friend. It’s not anyone who would stand with you in a fiendfyre fight. Thanks for the chapter!

Incredible chapter! I can't wait for the next one!

Personally, I agree. I've seen too many stories where Harry is able to confront Voldemort too quickly, and nothing sucks me out of the narrative more than a 14 year old trouncing a 60+ year old wizard. Also, it DOES make for a more interesting tale now that Dumbledore is gone. While a character like Dumbledore makes for a good mentor figure, it would be easy to fall into the trap that everything should be up to him. Harry is the main character, and having less characters around able to bail him out of dangerous situations at just the right time can only be a good thing for the narrative. I really liked this chapter and eagerly anticipate more. Good luck on your revisions this week!

I knew this chapter would be divisive long before writing it. The patrons talking over on Discord seem very fond of it, the comments here less so. That is all to be expected. I won’t say much because of spoilers, but I am a bit confused at what one of the biggest reasons for people disliking this chapter seems to be. A lot of them appear to take issue with the fact that now, they don’t see how Harry can beat Grindelwald. That was kind of the point. If you know how a story will end, what’s the point in reading it? Stories cannot exist without conflict and intrigue is limited when the outcome is sure. Things are easy if Dumbledore is around — Harry has a safety blanket and has his autonomy limited. Dumbledore gone allows for more growth, a less predictable narrative, and a more compelling story. Now who knows, maybe I will botch that tale along the way, but those are my two cents, for what they’re worth.

personally I disagree with the comments here. People always want a OP harry and i personally like how I have no idea how the story will go (other than harry presumably suriving somehow?)

The last 20 chapters have been getting more and more negative. I guess with a reformed Emily you need a big bad so I’m not too surprised you’ve done what you’ve done this chapter. This gives me Deathly Hallows vibes but Grindlewald isn’t Voldemort and Harry needs all the help he can get to defeat him and that help is… well not doing too great after this chapter. Feels like you’ve written Harry into an unwinnable situation that can’t be changed without author BS being done.

Bellerophon

Huh... About all I can say. Very chaotic, and I don't necessarily mean that in a positive way.

Victory For The People

That having been said, this is probably one of the worst cliffhangers I've seen in your work. Far worse than even AoC's current state. Harry is now in serious trouble - he has literally nowhere to go that is safe anymore. Should he choose to stay anywhere, he's putting the other occupants at a huge risk. I suppose it's time to bunker down under a Fidelius for a while?

Like one of the previous comments, I'm not sure how I feel about all of this. The problem is that we don't know how you intend to resolve this situation. So I guess I'll just wait for the next couple of chapters.

Talk about a cliffhanger...
