Got it.While the second part was obvious, the first part wasn't as much since the wording in the chapter was a bit vague wether he knew they were dead as fact through his ability/illusion or simply presumed it based on the fact that his fire origin ki is easily able to kill foes on that level. Thanks for clearing up my confusion. ;)

2020-05-11 07:57:33 +0000 UTCKeep in mind that the illusions are created under his own power. The principal of the effect is that an illusion wraps around the Beginning Fire. Then, this illusion is projected with the fire itself, hiding its effects. If the fire kills, the illusion 'fools' the mind of the target into believing that they are still alive. Or, to put it another way, the illusion adopts the mind while replacing the body. Since his domain is Illusions, he would have an innate sense of whether the illusion has taken hold or not. Of course, there is no such thing as a perfect ability. There will be ways around everything, whether it is around the Beginning Fire, the Illusion, or fooling his senses to make him believe the illusion worked. The point of the technique is to control the battlefield and the flow of information. If he simply kills a target with the Beginning Fire, then the teammates will reassess their battle strategy or even retreat. However, if they appear to have the upper hand, they will follow their original strategy without realizing that their primary fighters have turned into illusions.

I mean in this case it was obvious that his crimson ki would eliminate them, but against a foe with unknown passive and active abilities, without some plot scripted "My power of X is [ Insert the monologue of an idiot explaining his powers here. ] so you have no way of winning! [ Insert stupid maniacal laughter here. ]" it wouldn't be as sure fire.
