Map of the Rainbow Lands, Our Golden Age Era

In the reign of the seventeen good interns the cartography department of the fabled Grove School (college rhizome) sent a golem with a perfect memory so high up the Ladder of Heaven that it was able to capture a nearly perfect map of the territory. The mapping project greatly improved trade and travel in the civilized Garden, but the increased interaction inevitably led to greater disputations and--as such things go--culminated in the Silent Night Episode, when the knowledge systems of the humans were garbled and their languages reset. In the chaotic aftermath, the Cat Vampires took advantage of their last remaining copy of the complete map (chiselled into the hide of a great stone golem) to create a new kind of empire, an empire of ideas.

Or so the academician governors of the Universal Ministration like to argue when faced by reticent Vintner Lords and Dust Merchants and Core Farmers and Butcher Bankers. Not to mention the Distributed Dreamers of the Blue Land.

This is not the beginning of the End

Etc. etc. etc. Dear heroes, it is, however, perhaps the end of the beginning as the road to the physical interpretation of Our Golden Age and the SDM continues. Later this summer we're launching the crowdfunding, and a big map (I hear 24 inches) is going to be part of it and I've been working on quite vigorously over the last few weeks.

The elevation effect was pretty funky to do, but turned out very nicely, and now most of the towns are labeled. This isn't a final map - there'll be more places, roads, points of interest, and so on ... but it's ready enough that I don't feel uncomfortable sharing it with you.

EDIT: Added a version with the phylakes - the giant guardian statue angels that are totally not threatening kaijus - labelled and named.

Anyway, 42 days to go to prepare all the materials for the launch ... and then a bit more time to finish writing the Green and Yellow Lands ... oh dear >_< ...
