Yellowlands and Cover Previews

Dear heroes ... and visitors,

This is a shorter OGA teaser than usual - just six pages. We open with a recolored big hero image for the Yellowlands (the great glowing phylake and a flying builder bolide in the foreground), then proceed to an overview of this land, travel options, weather, events (formerly named misfortunes) and encounters, and an overview of local shopping options (items, accommodations, food).

The next section will be a town and culture generator to account for the diversity of independent citystates in the Yellowlands. I wanted to have it ready today, but we're moving next week and I just didn't get around to sorting out the layout + text cleanup. It's coming.

I guess the Yellowlands wanted to happen before the Green, huh?

Well, I can tease a WIP of the Metropolis (Emerald City) art:

This piece isn't going to just be in the book, it's also going to grace the box cover of the backerkit box set.

I slipped that one in, didn't I? Yeah, the other reason this update isn't bigger is that I'm hard at work preparing all the covers and pictures to make the backerkit campaign that launches July 31st look pretty.

Covers

I can show off the book covers.

This is going to be the Our Golden Age cover - everything Circle Seas in one book. Obvs the cover may get tweaked a bit more, but I'm quite pleased with the title glyph. It nicely echoes the UVG title.

And this is going to be the Vastlands Guidebook, formerly titled the UVG Guidebook. I renamed it so I could also give it a three-letter glyph title. Again, bits of it might get tweaked. But, yeah, the game formerly known as S.E.A.C.A.T. is getting the book treatment! Gontijo is nearly finished with work on the layout and I'm looking forward to sharing it with all the heroes. He's really turning it into a kind of retrospective of my art over the last 12 years and I'm quite impressed. It also looks like we'll be able to squeeze in a bit of extra content ... that would be fun. Maybe a current edition of the lexicon of the vastlands?

Backerkit

So, two books, what else?

We're going to have some pretty dice - possibly very polychrome - but more readable than the UVG ones. I'm getting older, need to play to my eyes, haha.

There's going to be an A2 pamphlet adventure for early backers ... the heroes will probably get a sneak preview of this one as their next update, hehe.

The 24-inch square map. I mentioned that one last post, right?

A referee screen focused on travel adventures in the Circle Sea.

And then we've got a few stretch goals lined up. But I'll describe those later. Still, to make sure you don't miss it, leave your cat scratch postal address here: https://tiny.cc/ourgoldenage

Other News

Another part reason for the slightly smaller size of this update, besides working on the big pictures (ack), is that we're moving apartments - going somewhere a little bigger to have a bit more space for Eggy Baby. It's exciting but also exhausting.

I thought about trying to finish up this update more, but ... the weekend is here and there will be plenty of packing to do.

Right ... hmm.

Have fun! You're welcome!

~~cheers and sunshine,
Luka

PS - I also attached a full version of the cleaned-up OGA cover line art. Enjoy!

Yeah, I did a search and was shocked! It seems like such an overlap, but I guess folks into Classic Traveler were too old for lego space then!

WizardThiefFighter

After a quick search, no. Now I have another project to not ever get around to!

Accidental! But, the tapered wedge is the best whoosh shape there is. Something classic Traveller got very right! I wonder if anyone made classic traveller lego models.

WizardThiefFighter

The builder bolide has very strong Type-S Scout from classic Traveller vibes, https://tedlindsey.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Jump-FTL-WH-Keith-CT-Starter-Trav-Pg-28_03-July-2018a.jpg That means I like it.

It’s like the hotel California …

Congrats on the move and WOW, love how those covers turned out! Boxed set hype!!!

Eamon Mulholland

Love the covers! And love the world! After dipping our toes into the campaign for 6 months I have a feeling we'll "Stay a While, Stay Forever!"

Øyvind Heilo

Oh yes. Very!

WizardThiefFighter

> Maybe a current edition of the lexicon of the vastlands? Yes, please! We get so much use out of the Lexicon at our table, I'd love for this to see print.

Aaron Seigo

Woah, Gontijo is good, VERY good!
