Yellow Land Intermezzo

Good heroes, good evening (local time)!

This is just a really short post (teaser!) on the Yellow Land. With the Vastlands Guidebook squared away (mostly, hah, indexing goes on), I've returned my attention (at last, at last) to the Golden Age.

And the first thing I saw was that ... I want to rework the frontpiece to better capture the Yellow Land and that the map was lacking.

So I adjusted the map glyphs for the cartographic font a little bit to make them look nicer. I'll share it once it's "ready enough" -- if there's some specific location types you'd like to see, let me know. Still lots of glyphs available, hah.

Then I realized that in upgrading to a new computer, my adobe fonts got borked and then I opened the map and realized I'd used an adobe font and so I changed the font and then ... LOTS OF TWEAKING. And those new glyphs I mentioned. See attachments for the compleat wip map. Still needs the legend.

A yellowland expanded human merchant in guild standing (fees paid for over 200 years!).

Oh, right, where was I. That picture was just a small distraction. Right, got some overviews, some local maps.

The major city and some loot and a few other pages. Others are still in that floatey stage, where it's either just text and lists, or some loose notes guiding what to add to that page.

Some of this is going to become tables, some will get cut, some will get expanded. And the art will have to come in.

Pieces like this one, for one of the holy fountains of Vulcana the Chemical Deity.

And like this for the thorny, witchy ranchers of the steppe land ...

And I really want to give the Steppers (the six-legged symbiote-centaurs of the horse tribes) their own page.

All Very Well But This Is Undone!

Yes, Luka, why haven't you finished this chapter? You said you're close!

Well, I'd sift cinders upon my scalp, but I'll be honest—between getting our oldest used to childcare and taking care of both of the little humans-in-becoming to give my wife a few days off ... no cinders to scalp.

In some weird way I've managed to find a balance where I continue to enjoy creating this world, these books, while also managing to keep the family moderately happy, and myself from burning out.

I trust you find my irregular odd-time updates satisfactory too.

For now, coming soon (life energies, children, wife, dog, etc. permitting):

° the compleat yellow land

° the map of the slow and fast stars (inspired by traditional mass transit mapping solutions of Earth's late carbonophilic era)

Psst, Behind the Veil

And, if you want to see the latest iteration of the Vastlands Guidebook, it's right here, in the discord, begging to be dissected and commented upon: https://discord.gg/NT6DGEtMBY ... come in, come in, the cheese dip is not a mind control fondue.

(equipment section art)

Right, That's It

More soon, but now, good heroes, I must go to sleep because one of the babies is liable to wake up soon and require some midnight ... uh ... food or diaper action. It's glamorous. It really is.

Take care, stay strong and love your fellow humans as you can. For now they are not yet neuralinked electrocorporeal synths!

It’s a juggling act! Now I’ve caught my kid’s latest creche virus and whooof. Haven’t felt fatigue like this in a while.

I'm pleased that you're taking the time to get work/life balance right. Family is important.

hahaha ... yeah, they're going to other pages as they get rearranged :D

Everything looks great so far! Pg6 of the YL PDF seems to contain some easter egg tables hiding on the right 😂
