I ended up redoing the background several times, trying different compositions and looking for reference, and after I settled on plain grass it still took a few tries to light it well, so it doesn't look crooked or warped. I still have a lot to learn about colors, shading and how to represent depth, shapes and volume on canvas. But I'm still glad it's done, it's part of the journey.
Almost feels like they're posing for a photo ^^
