ResourcePackManager closed early access!

NOTICE: THIS PLUGIN IS NOW OUT PUBLICLY HERE https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/resource-pack-manager.118574/

THIS POST IS ONLY LEFT UP FOR ARCHIVAL PURPOSES

Hello!

Today I am releasing the first version of the ResourcePackManager plugin.

In case you've not heard the announcements about it, this plugin aims to make managing resource packs easy by:

This is the first release, so some features are not yet present, such as automatically converting and hosting for bedrock players, as well as automatically decrypting resource packs for the plugins that encrypt them (you will have to disable encryption on those plugins for this to work).

The plugin has two commands:

You can read the ReadMe that comes with the data compliance command for more details, but ResourcePackManager and the back-end nodejs code that manages the hosting does not retain any identifying information about your server or clients connecting to it, as you can verify with the data that is sent to you.

Additionally, the data is removed 2 minutes after your server stops pinging the Nightbreak servers, as we do not have the wish or capacity to store a large volume of resource packs. Hosting ain't free.

Finally, that data is not monetized in any way, nor will it ever be monetized.

The install the plugin, all you need to do it put it in the plugins folder. There is no required setup, and the plugin is hardcoded to automatically scan for the plugins listed as compatible and find the resource packs they generated.

The intention is to have a system where, ultimately, to use custom models, all you need to do is put the custom model in the imports folder of FMM, and reload FMM. The rest should be automatically handled.

As of right now, you will have to reload FMM and also reload RSPM, then log back into your server. This is still a work in progress, but it should already be much, much faster than the previous way of manually merging and hosting resource packs.

The autohost feature is quite tricky and somewhat experimental. It works, but we end up having too much traffic I may have to modify some aspects of how it works, and who has access to it. However, it's not worth worrying about until we start running into issues with it, which should take quite a while.

I hope you enjoy the plugin, it was quite a bit of work to get it fully working but I think you'll find it to be immensely useful.

Happy resource pack making,
