Quick update - injury

Hello everyone,

You may have noticed lately that a lot of things got updated, but I have not made any major announcements.

My plan was, as per usual, to push a lot of updates out and then do one big announcement alongside a video release for the enchantment system (and some other stuff).

However, a couple of days ago while I was in the middle of doing some bugfixing and finishing some of the release work, I started developing some serious wrist pain and knew I had to take a break before this became a permanent thing.

The thing is that in the last few weeks almost every day has been a 16 hour work day, with one of those days going up to an actual 24h work day while I was trying to get things ready for release.

This has clearly backfired on me, and I have what feels like the start of carpal tunnel syndrome / a repetitive stress injury.

I had to take it a bit slower for the past couple of days, and even writing this message right now doesn't feel great.

To combat this I've actually bought a really nice vertical mouse, an amazing split keyboard and a compression glove made for this kind of issue. Unfortunately the mouse will take a couple of weeks to get here, the keyboard will probably take a month and the glove should be here tomorrow.

In case you're interested in knowing what I got, it's the Moonlander Mark 1 keyboard, which you can see in this picture (not my picture, I just ordered it now):

And the Logitech MX vertical mouse:

I know some people are always interested in my setup, and I am always happy to share what I come up with. These (expensive!) improvements to my setup are only made possible through your support, which is, as always, deeply appreciated.

I apologize that I can't keep up with the release schedule I had set for myself, although ultimately I do believe quite a hefty amount of updates did get released.

Upcoming releases:

While slower and more painful than I'd wish for, I am still working through the updates, and figure it's time I update you on where things are at.

One instanced dungeon and one sanctum are pretty much ready for release, and I am just going to tweak some aspects before release. These are actually landmark releases, as they mark the launch of the "official" mainline story mode instanced dungeons for EliteMobs. These are the first two dungeons of what will be a relatively long storyline mode for dungeons, creating a brand new way to level through EliteMobs and giving players doing prestige rankups even more content to level through.

These dungeons will be free. However, for a limited duration, they will only be available to patreon supporters starting at the $1 tier. The current plan is to make them free on the EliteMobs anniversary on April 27th.

A third dungeon should also be ready well before then, continuing this storyline.

You will have noticed that a lot of releases have been updates for existing dungeons. Some may be happy to learn that we are giving The Oasis Adventure the same treatment as Primis, meaning that it will be getting a full storyline with quests and npcs, more well defined main and side content and a review of all bosses and loot, alongside updates to the powers of the bosses to make good use of the custom powers.

As you might imagine, unlike Primis, it will not take us 1 year to make this map, since the builds will mostly stay the same - although we plan to completely remake the inside of the last zone, the pyramid.

Dali_ has continued working on BetterStructures and now has all the 100+ builds and bosses done, each with their own custom powers. Loot is mostly done, and a big part of testing is also mostly done. Expect the premium release of the EliteMobs BetterStructures build pack within the next week or so!

Bepis has been helping with finishing off Primis and the Craftenmine Sanctum. The Craftenmine sanctum is hilariously late at this point, as we wanted to release it for Halloween, but considering some people are asking me how to install the Santa NPC in March I think your players won't mind that this original character which is only very loosely related with Halloween will see a non-Halloween release. It's a fun fight, and it even has a custom soundtrack which I love.

As for me, I have been fixing all bugs reported on Discord, doing my best to get EliteMobs to be as stable as possible after all the major rewrites that it has seen recently. A lot of you have probably noticed some changes in how I structure non-patron Discord support requests, and I know reactions to it have been somewhat mixed. However, I can guarantee that I have never been able to pinpoint issues this easily, and it has already saved me hours of work in the few days it's been up for. I think ultimately it will be the way to go, although it might take a little while for people to adjust to.

Once I get EliteMobs to a stable state, I will actually start working on something completely different - Eternal TD, a tower defense game in Minecraft.

Some may have noticed the closed alpha is on Patreon right now, or might remember me working on it months ago, but I really want to get it to a point where it is publicly released. It's a lot of fun to work on, it's a lot of fun to play and I am dead certain people will have a great time with it. I'll also be trying to make videos of me working on it that will hopefully be fun to watch, so keep an eye out for that as well.

Obviously this doesn't mean that EliteMobs won't be worked on. As you can see above, I am only one of many people working on content at this point, and I will probably keep publishing bugfixes and relatively minor additions while working on ETD - it just won't be massive rewrites like what was needed for the enchantment update.

For now though, I am forced to take it a bit slower. I am hoping that I can get back to full speed within the next couple of days, and it is also my hope that between the new mouse and the new keyboard that this is not an issue which will repeat itself any time soon.

That's it for now, I will post a big update soon with hopefully a lot of juicy and interesting content.

Happy adventuring,

- MagmaGuy

Defs take it easy - coming back from a strain injury is HORRIBLE and it never quite feels the same again.
