Free Minecraft Models - closed alpha

Surprise!

Veteran supporters of my projects know that I've mentioned a long time in the past that I wish plugins like ModelEngine (which allow you to display custom models in-game) were free, as custom models are really cool to use but there is no smooth way of doing them.

I also mentioned that making such a system would be an insane amount of work, and it was even the highest Patreon goal we had!

Well, guess what - I made it anyway!

Today I am releasing FreeMinecraftModels early on here for all Patreon supporters, as it would not have been possible to make this without your support.

The plugin is open-source, licensed under GPLV3 and extra care has been put into trying to make the system easy to maintain for future versions, even if it is not maintained by me.

While I am only distributing the jar file here, the source code can already be checked here: https://github.com/MagmaGuy/FreeMinecraftModels . On this page you can also see what the first release of this plugin can and can't do.

If you are wondering why it is that I went ahead and made this, it is because I really wanted to have the EternalTD models (as well as my other projects) be usable by everyone. ETD will be free, and the models will also be free, so it really annoys me that the ability to see the models in-game would cost over $18.

While this is just used for static models right now, the plan is to ultimately have it be a drop-in replacement for ModelEngine. Planned and current features are on the github page.

You can play around with this plugin by using the command /fmm spawn static <filename> where the filename is the name of model you created in Blockbench, in lower case. You can read here for more details: https://github.com/MagmaGuy/FreeMinecraftModels

This project has been holding back a lot of releases, but now that it is ready for its first release you will be seeing a whole lot of releases in the coming days!

I apologize for the long period of seeming inactivity, the releases we've been working on are not trivial and required a lot of work to get going. I trust that you will be very happy with the upcoming releases!

PS: I have also included the player model with the chains here for you to play around with. Just put it into imports and /fmm reload!
