The Texas City Disaster
Added 2022-07-19 10:15:01 +0000 UTCOne source I used for this video contained a few little things that I just couldn't verify with any other source. Perhaps someone native to Texas City might have some insight?
In this report by ABC13, they show some colour footage which looks like it could be of the Texas City Disaster. I've not seen colour footage of it anywhere else... and it only plays in the background - they don't actually have a video featuring it prominently. I wonder if it might be from a more recent disaster that they're linking to Texas City's history?
And secondly, there's a mention that the symbol of Texas City is a phoenix, because of how the city rose from the ashes following the explosion. Which is a really lovely detail... but I couldn't find the city's symbol anywhere...
