Magnetix were a fairly high profile case... but there have been a good number of recalls of magnetic toys over the last few decades.
DigitDots is a recent one - these little magnetic balls are being recalled because at least four people have needed surgery after swallowing them. In this case, though, DigitDots appear to be aimed at adults, so there have thankfully been relatively few cases of people ingesting them!

I will! It's a significant disaster, and all the more impactful for me because I remember it happening. There's definitely an episode on it somewhere down the line

2022-09-05 08:48:59 +0000 UTCI think I played with a Magnetix when I was younger. Also for a new topic for a short, US Route 491 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_491. It used to be called US Route 666 (as it was a branch of the historic US Route 66). Unsurprisingly it was called the Devil's Highway because of this, and it lives up to its name, with a high fatality rate making people believe it was cursed. After its renumbering to US Route 491 and safety improvements were implemented, the number of fatalities went down.
