The Sampoong Department Store Collapse
Added 2022-05-03 10:15:01 +0000 UTCI spent a huge amount of time trawling the internet to try and find pictures of the inside of the Sampoong Department Store before the collapse... but I just couldn't track down any. The outside of the building - with its pink colouring - is so distinctive that I was extremely curious about the inside.
There is an episode of Seconds from Disaster that has some interior shots of department stores in Seoul... but I think these are likely to be taken from other stores, or mocked up for the documentary.
Cameras weren't as ubiquitous when the mall was in operation back in the 1990s, but I'm sure there must be pictures out there somewhere. Let me know if you ever stumble across any!

2022-05-05 19:49:44 +0000 UTCIt's an interesting choice - incredibly distinctive even in the wreckage. From what I can see there weren't many other buildings with this kind of dramatic colouring in the area.
