This is a story that perturbed me ever since I first came across it. I don't like elevators at the best of times... the thought of being stuck in one for two days is not pleasant.
If you want a little more detail on this story, check out this New Yorker article, which goes into great depth about the workings of elevators, and what happened to Mr White afterwards. If, like me, you're not a fan of elevators... well, it may not exactly be comfy reading!

I've come across quite a few stories of elevators getting stuck or going wrong... to the point that if taking the stairs is an option I now always take the stairs!

2022-05-14 10:04:56 +0000 UTCits really surprising that these sorts of accidents with stuck elevators still happen. You’d think they’d start including something as a redundant backup as a battery operated walkie talkie or something like that just in case of complete power failiure.
