The Deadliest Toys (Part Three)
Added 2023-05-05 10:15:01 +0000 UTCThis was an interesting one for me, since I remember having a set of clackers as a child. I don’t think a description can convey just how fun to play with (and loud) these things were. They’re absurdly simple compared to some modern toys, but they kept me amused for hours.
No wonder, then, that kids are still playing with them. Most recently clackers saw a resurgence in Indonesia and Malaysia, where they’re known as “latto-latto” after the sound they make. Though there have been no reports of kids being injured by them as yet, it seems that some people are already keen to see them banned (perhaps because, as I might have mentioned, they really are incredibly loud).
