The Legally Haunted House

In New York, you’re legally required to disclose when a property you’re selling might be haunted… but what about the rest of the world? From what I’ve read, in most places you’re not required to do so by law, but it still might be a good idea – especially if there’s been any media coverage of the haunting. Even if there’s no legal precedent, finding out that a house is famous for being haunted is something that could make even the most determined buyer change their mind!

That sounds familiar to me. I rather think I'd prefer not to know, if I was planning on living in a particular house!

It's a grey area to say the least... but I think the more evidence there is of a haunting (in this case there were published articles about how haunted the house was) the more likely it is it'll need to be disclosed.

You're legally required to disclose that the house is haunted, but I would be interested to know how "haunted" can be legally quantified. Did the state of New York previously prove that ghosts are real? :)

In California I believe that the seller needs to disclose if the house has been the scene of a murder.
