[SPOILERS JAMES] Should you be able to pick?

Okay? Want to know what I want to poll you about? Read on.
In chapter 12, MC is attending a festival on the planet Yool. At this point in the story, you have met these characters (Jæmis is his official name, but I will always use James to talk about him):
- James
- Kaleb
- Lana
- Billius
- Eeyok
- Nornus
- Varitus
The only one missing from the festival is Nornus.
About the festival; the people of Yool have a tradition where each person attends the festival with a small ornament tied around their wrist. After performing a dance, people will give their ornament to whomever they respect or deem worthy. For soldiers, it can mean giving it to the strongest person, for children it might mean giving it to their parents, for lovers they may exchange with each other etc. It's usually a popularity contest, as a single person can receive multiple ornaments. The rule is that you must give yours away though.
The MC has an ornament, too. MC still isn't very close with James (whoo, slow burn!), but she has gotten to know the others and likes Eeyok, Billius and Lana in particular.
I was going to have her give the ornament to Eeyok (poor guy doesn't get any from anyone).
I know you haven't met anyone else besides James and Eeyok at this point in the story (Billius, Kaleb and Lana show up in chapter 6 & 7!), but when chapter 12 arrives, people may have gotten attached to a certain side character.
So my question: should I let you decide who to give the ornament to? It won't influence much aside from the current scene, though James will most likely comment about it later in the story.
The reason I'm really asking is because it won't be a fierce/kind choice, and it will be the very first multiple choice that doesn't influence your fierce/kind points.
